Unfortunately it is still not clear because it could be the CDI or it could be your STator which I have also seen happen. May need to take it somewhere to be tested because eithe component is kind of pricey so you want to make sure you replace the right thing.

Sounds more like it might be wiring or something. Coils are rare to go bad. Check your switches and see if you can find a tempermental problem. You may simply have a broken wire or a bad connection to a safety switch or ignition.
