  1. built in Buffalo New York, they arte called MUDD OX now
  2. yes you are correct, its skid steer drive`, no brakes except an emerg/park brake (2 discs), when you let go of steer handles a brake band is applied inside the borg warner T-28 transmission. steeering is twitchy when you get over 40 kph, i guess it does about 50 kph but you gotto stay on the steering (with both hands). same engines hotted up for racing do more like 60 mph , 750 cc twin kawasaki, carby or injected. i got into waist deep mud on the beach, got out and revved slightly and rocked vehicle and it climbed out, incredible, other choice wait for high tide and float out, also no stress now i use a plough anchor hooked to my warn winch, yes engine in back means it is level when it floats unlike ARGOS with engine in front and they sit nose down
  3. no suspension but with 2 psi in tyres you actually dont need it
  4. and a few gauges like RPM,temp, boost/vacumn, lambda and air fuel ratio
  5. Mech your right about that, i was 50 years old when i moved here to the beach, within a year i had bought a jetski, then a J85 HAMILTON jetboat, then the 6X6. I bought the kinquad so i can take my 6x6 out of service to complete some overdue maintenance and modifications such as... supercharging the kawasaki 750 twin engine:
  6. Mech misunderstood thought you meant UP NORTH in AUSTRALIA BTW that my backyard
  7. i get it now, like a robotic extension arm !
  8. cool, im in Cairns, Machans Beach
  9. i will probably just do mudguards, or i was even thinking i could try the fiberglass/plastric ones you can buy for boat trailers, the Quads will be used on a trail besdie a mangrove creek mainly for my mudcrab and fishing, so might be easier to wash salt off with less plastic surrounding quad my 6X6 plastic is really tough and i havent been able to damage it yet
  10. Mech your in Australia correct where exactly ?
  11. hey MECH can you get a photo of this tool in action ? cant quite picture how it works OZ
  12. was thinking most of us on this forum would have another ride, so to get the ball rolling........... MY MAX 4 6X6 2009, now this will actually go anywhere including across the water. In the 3rd photo I had gone up the river about 30 meters then climbed up the bank, 6X6 owners call it "swimming" MAX 4 6X6 2008
  13. i am over wearing masks in 100 F summer heat !
  14. my 2002 KQ 300 is a real barn find, came without fenders and the only plastic on it is the 2 small panels below fuel tank. Almost too embarrassed to post a photo as it needs more than a little work. Anyway i am a good TIG welder so was thinking of making up alum checker plate fenders and battery support. Has anyone else given up on the plastic body panels and made up their own "skin" ? OZ
  15. thanks Mech, i agree but drum brakes versus disc brakes ? pretty weird option. I needed a speedo assy for my 2002, got a 1997 version coming looks exactly the same but one connector is different. Can deal with electrics better as I am an Aircraft Electrician, but buying the wrong suspension, drive train or brake parts would be annoying. At least here in Australia I am finding a good supply of 2nd hand Suzuki parts from wreckers, gumtree (like Craigs list) etc at very reasonable prices. Not to mention oil filter $9, air filter $27 and non OEM electrical parts OZ
  16. OK looked in detail thru parts lists, looks X,Y,K models have a drum/shoe front brake and a rear stop lamp ? thats about it OZ
  17. tried FAX VIN again 2002 LT-F300, nothing after the 300, eg F,K etc possibly not much difference but i am still curious just tried above parts lookup, excellent better than what i have been using, looks like the F/K after 300 is more for options , eg color, dual headlight etc and looks like rear wheel drives are a single UJ with a boot over, im happy with tthat OZ
  18. Hello, Picked up what i thought was a 1997 KQ 300, it is missing all the plastic body fenders and the head light plastics. Checked the VIN with one of the decoders from this forum and it said my quad was actually a 2002 LTF 300 F which is fine, just wondering what changes were made from 1997 to 2002, Some service manuals list 1998 to 2002 as the same range/model. I may check engine number as well to confirm engine year and model I need correct identification for parts ordering etc. I noticed some changes from the 1997 to 2000s models with the rear wheel driveshafts. My rear shafts have an inner joint rubber cover (not sure if they are CVs or UJs), then appear to go to wheel hub without a 2nd flexible joint, in other words it is most likely rear wheel drives are a single CV joint. earlier models appear to be 2 UJs, am i correct here ? Have ordered a cheapo CD service manual that hopefully should clear this up regards OZ
