  1. I changed the voltage regulator/recitfier and the quad ran the same. The only thing I did not not change was the CDI. I received the new CDI in the mail today. Installed it and it ran PERFECT. Changing everything in the process was a pain in the rear but now I have all new electronics and the bike should last for another 20 years. 🙂
  2. I removed the voltage regulator/rectifier today and it appeared to have a spot on the back that melted and might have been shorting out. I have a new regulator on order so hopefully that will fix the problem.
  3. I checked the voltage at the battery while running and it was very erratic jumping all over up to 19 volts. It did briefly run better when I turned the lights on.
  4. Battery is new so that is ok. It used to run better/stronger when I turned on the lights but now it runs the same no matter which selection the key is on. Will check the charging system further with my voltmeter and see what I get.
  5. I could use the marks to set the timing if everything was taking apart. I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the timing without taking everything apart. I was able to get the Quad running, the problem was a bad connection from the new Stator Wire to the existing plastic connection. The new part had a slightly different connection and wasnt making proper contact. I cut off the old Stator connectors and spliced them to the new wires and everything worked fine except my quad is still running the same. Starts and idles fine but has no power and the engine seems to misfire when I try to give it gas.
  6. I have a 1998 Quad that was running almost perfectly and it started to drain my battery while parked last year. When Started this spring it idled fine but had little power to drive the bike. I changed the coil and the stator and it is still running exactly the same as it was before. Has anybody experienced this issue or have any advice where to proceed? The only electrical parts left to change is the ignition switch and the CDI Box. Thanks in advance for any help provided.
  7. I just changed the stator on my 1998 Suzuki 250 quad and now it wont start. I am also looking for a way to check or adjust timing but cant find anything in my manual. The stator only went on one way so not sure what could be off now. Any ideas would be very helpful and appreciated.
