  1. I don’t know about simple, I’ve worked on everything from hockey choppers to nuclear reactors, I’ve been able to work on my 2007 foreman 500 4x4 es, but only with the help of some great people here on Quad Crazy. You can’t just jump in there not having a background in quad repair. The people on Quad crazy make it possible to get the job done. But you are right they are tough long lasting machines. Ride On!!
  2. Harley’s have to mark their territory.
  3. He, don’t kill me or quit helping me but I’m pretty sure I screwed up . I may have set the piston with an f in the window instead of the t. I couldn’t see that well without getting on the floor and with oil on the fly wheel I think I screwed up. I got out of my chair and took a swab and cleaned the oil off the mark and it was a f mark it’s really hard to tell sitting in my chair and it’s hard to get back in it by myself. Can I tear it back down and remove the piston, be sure to have it on the t. And reattach the piston. I’m not sure about tearing the front of that motor off. I checked the valves with it definitely on the t the intake valve barely moved, but the exhaust valve was very loose. Sorry for making a dumb mistake.
  4. Yeah, the electric things are what bothers me. You get up into some money when all that goes bad. And I don’t think I have what you need to check all that crap. But I’ll stick with it until we get too expensive or run out of things to try. Thanks for hanging in there.
  5. I checked it it was 180, I guess that’s alright. Now what? If you give up that’s ok, because I’m about ready to. It been a real pain in the arse!!
  6. I did like you said, I’m getting some pressure coming out of the spark plug hole . I checked for spark and it had spark. I’m having to charge battery now I left the switch on and ran the battery down. Is there some way the spark plug could be firing at the wrong time. Just guessing. Thanks for your help.
  7. GW, I did like you said and turned the fly wheel when the Allen wrench was at the top the t was in the window. The under line may have been a hair below the marks on the window threads but the t itself was pretty much in line I say pretty much because it depends on how you look at it through the hole. I did it several times and when the Allen wrench was at the highest the t was in the inspection port. If that’s good enough what else could it be. I just don’t understand how it ran good for a while then just quit. Won’t even crank it acts like to me it 180 out when it should be pulling gas into the carburetor it’s blowing it out. But the tdc is in line or so close it’s hard to tell. AI on a search said it could possibly be a crankcase sensor or a cam shaft sensor issue causing it to fire in the chamber and blow it back toward the air filter. I have no idea what to try next
  8. I got it on tdc and I stuck an Allen wrench in the spark plug hole and from the outside of the housing it was about 1 7/16” to the piston. That’s from the outside of the shell to the top of the piston. I don’t know if it should be closer or not the valves were loose, I could wiggle them and pick it up and down.
  9. Ok, I’ll try it your way to avoid all that with the clutches. Is there a way to correct it if it’s not tdc? Without taking the top end down again?
  10. GW, pardon my ignorance, but where is the cam inspection cover. Thanks for your help.
  11. Damn you are smart and beautiful. You are so knowledgeable. I never would have ever thunk it, don’t guess thunk is a word . And to think I gradgiated 6th grade when I was 16 and went to work in the cotton mill. You would think I would know all that stuff. I’m sorry but if a honey bee gets that close to my eyes he’s or she’s swatted.
  12. I hunt off of my wheeler, my grandsons tell me it’s too loud. But I’ve killed deer off of it. A lot of times I hunt field roads or woods roads and fields I just figure out where I want to sit and usually I ride around behind my spot so I don’t disturb the cover in front of where I’m going to sit. I have a good bit of camouflage netting I put over my wheeler and string it up where I don’t have enough cover. There’s a lot of farming going on so get there early and they seem to not be bothered by the noise. I’ve killed many deer like that. Good luck this season get a big one.
  13. Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but how do I do that and what would cause that?
  14. I rebuilt the top end on my 2007 Honda Trx500fe. It ran fine right after the rebuilt. But now when I try to crank it it blows Bach through the carburetor. I held my hand over the opening for the intake air and it blew gas back on my hand. Can figure out what happened all of a sudden. It was cranking and was able to ride it running through all the gears. Now can get it to crank just blowing gas back to the air filter. Need help again. Starting to think I should have walked away from this one.
  15. I had to grind the bolt head off and then use vice grips to remove the bolt. I guess the grinding loosened enough to come out. I not saying it will work for you but you have to get the bolt out to continue the rebuild you may have to drill it out eventually and put a heli coil in. But try what these guys recommend they all know what they are talking about. I figure all the time spent it would be quicker to take to a shop and get it drilled out if you don’t have a drill press. Time just kills me. I know how frustrating it is. I would try s little longer then say the heck with it and grind it off. It shouldn’t cost too much to take it to a shop and get them to drill it out for you. Get them to drill it out to the heli coil size. I’m not one of these guys that are great mechanics I’m a novice. GW and Mech have guided me through several projects. They know it as all. I’m just saying it depends on how much time you want to spend on it. Good luck hope it comes lout for you. If I’m totally off base Mech and GW can tell you want hurt my feelings . You guys let him know it I’m totally wrong. Don’t want to lead him astray.
  16. I’m about 50 minutes from the South Carolina line on hwy 301. You have any idea where the trails are close to?
  17. I have a recurve bow with a fishing rig on it. Shot it one time, wasn’t paying attention and the string caught my middle finger. Snapped the first joint from my hand, had to have surgery and now have a permanent recurve in my finger. Question was there a reason you strung the bow like you have it in the pic, instead of over the curves, just wondering. My grandson borrowed mine and haven’t seen it since. The middle grandson borrowed my .308 and it’s not made it home yet. Will get it back, it’s a savage model 110, shoots great, killed a deer at 275 yards. they’ve all three picked out what weapons they want when I die. Makes it feel like they are rushing things.
  18. Well, I got it back together except for some of the plastic. I cranked it and let it run a while. I checked the compression it was 170. Can’t ride it to see how it does, I’ve got two flat tires that need new valve stems. Tubeless tires got to break the bead to put the valve stems in. I know they make the kits you can put the valve stems in without breaking the bead, but I’ve got the wrong size for my rims. When it was running I really couldn’t see smoke out the exhaust like it was, actually couldn’t see any. There was some smoke coming from the motor but I think it had some oil on it and had to burn it off, which I believe it already has. So far so good, just have to fix these two tires so I can see what it will do under power. Thanks for everyone’s help, couldn’t have finished with out your help. From mechanical help to emotional help that picked me up and gave me the Desire to keep on going. There’s not just one reply that solved this, but a combination of replies. I know when I started the top end rebuild, when I got down to the valves the exhaust side had a large amount of carbon buildup on and around it in the combustion chamber. So I checked everything pretty close on that side. I lapped the exhaust valve twice just to make sure it was ok. I also lapped the intake valve.Used the blueing to check the seal and it looked good. I poured solvent in the exhaust chamber, behind the valve to check if it was letting the solvent leak by it didn’t so I was satisfied that the seals were mating up good. Just have to wait until I get the tires fixed to check the power out. When I get them fixed and ride it some where I can open it up if it operating properly I’ll post that it’s still going ok, or if it doesn’t work out I’ll post that also. Hopefully it’ll continue running good and has stopped smoking so bad it looked like I was leaving a vapor trail.
  19. Just showing my age, getting on up there. Gotta figure I grew up in the 60’s. Hendrix, Joplin, Stones
  20. I’d like to be working on it now but the place I ordered the valve stem seals from, they’ve had the label produced but haven’t got it to the usps, today is the third day that they have failed to get it to the post office. I live about one hour west of Savannah, Ga. And the parts ship from Albany, Ga. With usps packages leave Albany, go to Tallahassee Fl. Then Jacksonville Fl. Then to Atlanta Ga. Then back to Macon Ga. Then to Statesboro Ga. I’m almost to the point of driving over there and picking them up. I ordered two circlips for $2.80 and shipping was almost $9.00. But it’ll get here eventually.
  21. It’s always nice to get a shock through your whole body especially in the prone position. Push it push it good.
  22. I live about an hour west of Savannah and was wondering if anyone knew of places to ride in this area. Only place I know of is in North Georgia, about 4.5-5 hours from my house. Would like to find something closer.
  23. I have a couple of shoulder holsters, but in warm weather I don’t want to wear a jacket to conceal it. In Georgia I don’t think you have to concealed carry, but open carry makes people nervous. A lady in a fast food place ask the manager to have a police officer leave because he was carrying a pistol, duh. Some people are ridiculous.
  24. Just hang out with the guys and “listen” what a woman. You have quite the arsenal. I couldn’t imagine shooting the old flint locks with the flash pan, talk about smoke. I have a .308 and a .300 win mag for deer hunting. A lot of people say the .300 win mag is too much for white tail deer, but I like it if you hit it it’s going down and no long blood trails. I may eventually get a black powder rifle just so I can hunt that part of the season too.
