  1. I’ve shot deer off of my gas atv. It was noisy but when you settle down it’s like the deer forget about it, and come right on in. I used to hunt with a group that used golf carts, we hunted off of woods roads so they didn’t have a problem getting you to your stand. But that may be over now for me anyway.
  2. Yeah, I got the loctite 518 when you mentioned it before. I put it on both sides of the gasket. I’ve had good results with it. I think you could use it without a gasket if you had to. But I use a gasket plus the 518. Everyone should try it, it’s good stuff. Mine came in a tube couldn’t find it in a syringe. But it still applies easily and like you say it’ll be there when you’re ready to start back.
  3. Just like electric cars when the battery goes so does your bank account. I like the quiet part but for different reasons, you can get to your deer stand a lot quieter and kill more deer. And as far as electric goes I’ve yet to figure out how to carry five gallons of electricity in case you run out.
  4. The manual I’m using had the piston in the cylinder and then attach it to the crank. I looked on YouTube and saw they put the piston on the crank arm then fed the rings into the cylinder as it went on. I did it that way I have the cylinder and piston on, and moving on to the valves. I’ve got to wait on some parts mainly the valve stem seals. I had ordered a part that I didn’t really need for this build, it was out of stock so they were going to wait for it to come in before they shipped the items I need now. I called them and told them I needed those seals yesterday. They said they would ship the items that were in stock now and ship the other item when it came in. With the humidity and temperature it’s a feel like temp of 110. It feels worse than that in the garage. I’m going to work on the valves in the house in the A.C. Before I have to go out and put it on. I use a box fan in the garage, but all it does is blows hot air. Sorry for the mixup, I think I’ve got it straight for now. It called for non hardening gasket sealant on the cylinder, should I use it on the other gaskets too? It didn’t say one way or the other. Don’t guess it would hurt.
  5. Ok got the cylinder on with some shifting around. I got it to the point I needed to put the piston rod through the crank. There has to be an easier way of doing it. On two different occasions I tried to push the pen through the crank and missed it both times. I can’t see it so I have no idea if it’s lined up with the piston rod. With my diabetic neuropathy in my hands and having no help it has about worn me out. Am I doing something wrong or is it hit or miss? Thanks for your help.
  6. I’ve run into a bit of a problem. I managed to get the piston in the cylinder and was trying to get it on the crank. The four long bolts that have to go through the cylinder just would not go. After looking at it a few minutes, it appeared the four bolts were all leaning the same direction, not straight up and down but not really bent. I checked them with a torpedo level and they were level front to rear. They were a little over 1” left to right out of level. So I put the level across the crankcase flange and it was out of level a little over 1” left to right. So I may be wrong has happened before, the engine is out of level left to right. Right after I got it I was servicing it and noticed the top motor mount didn’t have a bolt in it and was about to come apart. Is there any way the motor could have shifted. The cylinder is hitting the side of the frame on the right side before it will line up with the bolts. Anyone seen anything like this. Or have any ideas on making the bolt holes in the cylinder line up with the bolts in the crank. Hope I haven’t totally confused everyone, if I need to try again I will or answer any question to clear up what I’m trying to say. Thanks for all your patience and help.
  7. Was wondering if any of you have tried the Vnsh belly band holster. I love mine, it’s really comfortable. Allows you to carry concealed with shorts that have no belts. When I wear mine I have already adjusted the strap to fit me. I put it on and position it where I want it, pull the elastic band of the shorts up over the bottom of holster and shirt over the top. 8. Yeah, they say it’s really pretty down there. Would love to see it but I think it would be a difficult drive. And I can’t afford to fly. Maybe they’ll build a bridge someday. Boy that would be a long ride. Guess I’ll just have to look at some of the hunting shows from down there.
  9. Yeah, I had shop rags packed in the opening and I dropped one circlip. I pulled the shop rags out trying to be careful and when I got them out I couldn’t find the clip. I thought oh no now what. We usually blow out the garage with a leaf blower. But I decided to sweep out from under the wheeler. I made one pass under it and looked and there was the clip. Talking about lucky, I just knew it had fallen in with the crank. If I had blown it out I would have been wondering and waiting for something to happen. So finally I got lucky, I hope it stays with me putting this thing back together I’m sure I’ll need it and some help from you pros. I had lost one of the spring holders that go on top of the spring, and while I was looking for a masonry bit in my drill case, I found it didn’t even remember picking it up. But was sure glad to find it. A lot of my parts some cost $10.00 and have $9.00 shipping. And get a message saying if you spend another $139.00 you get free shipping. I don’t think so. Anyway thanks to everyone that comments. I really appreciate it. Hope my gaskets come in tomorrow or Tuesday. That’s all I need to get started. Going to be real nervous when I hit that starter for the first time. Mech I guess it’s about 2:57 pm there, its 11:57 pm here. You got most of the day left. All y’all take care and be safe.
  10. All I can say is you’re one hell of a man. Probably have a “S” on your chest and can fly. Now me, I have to use the compressor and it takes all I’ve got then.
  11. Thanks Jen, I don’t have one so will probably try my hands. I can do fantastic things with my hands.🤩.
  12. I saw where you can put the old ring just in the cylinder square them up and see how they fi all of them but the oil spacer rings were very tight, butting together with no gap, the first one you put on the oil spacer rings, was so loose it fell through the cylinder. It was a lot smaller than the others were. I don’t know if this is a good way to check your rings or not. Does anyone know? I’m just trying to figure out where the problem was. I’ve ordered new rings, I hope that will do it.
  13. I put the spark plug back in and filled the combustion chamber with solvent. It’s coming off better now down to the original metal. Wish I has ordered that tool sooner. Question how can you tell if the rings were bad?
  14. I’ve got the cylinder off and now have to pulll one of the clips holding the piston rod in. Not sure what to use. Also the valves and area are caked in carbon. Do you have to use the spring tool to remove the valves or is there a way to do it without the special press. The cylinder wall looked ok no scratches or gouges. What is the oem piston size mm diameter. How clean does the combustion camber have to be get all the loose carbon off or take it down to origin metal? If it’s the latter It’s going to take a long time, I’m getting most of it off, down to where it looks smooth but not down to bare metal. The valves are still in, it’s clean around where the valves open just below where the seat would be. And again do I need to get the spring compressor or can it be do another way, c- clamp with a large socket over the spring. I know I would have to remove the stop that holds the spring so if I tried that I would have to modify a socket so I can get to it. I’ll see how much one cost for a power sport or motorcycle one before I go to all that trouble. I found them on Amazon for little over $20 that’s what I do. They are for atv’s and motorcycles.
  15. Thanks for finding that for me, it’s not as bad as I thought. Well, I know that’s a deep subject. But I hope I haven’t screwed up but I have the cylinder head cover off. I was starting on the cylinder head when I noticed one of the cylinder head nuts were loose I took it off with my fingers. Could this be causing some of the problem. It was even screwed down all the way. I didn’t know if this could cause an oil problem or not. Like smoking.
  16. You are right, people say motorcycles are dangerous but it’s not the motorcycle it the people around you that make it dangerous to ride bikes. Plus I got hit by an IAD. Illegal alien driver no insurance no driver’s license. He fled the scene of an accident that had serious injuries which is a felony in Georgia. I had to tell the district attorney it was a felony and give him the code. He shouldn’t have been here and sure shouldn’t have been driving, didn’t know you couldn’t turn left on a green light with oncoming traffic. Now I can take my left leg off when I get tired or go to bed.
  17. “That that does not kill us makes us stronger “ evidently he never had a car run over him when he was riding a motorcycle. If it doesn’t kill you, it just makes you suffer longer. Hey maybe I’m one of them philosophers.🤪
  18. I have a question about the crankcase vent line. It goes into the air filter box. Does it supposed to have some kind of filter on the end of it, like a foam filter. I remember when I changed the air filter I saw one of the lines and I think it was the crankcase vent line. It had what looked like someone had made a foam filter to go on the end of it it looked homemade, it was folded over on the end and tie rapped down . I blew compressed air through it and it went through no problem, I was just wondering how much restriction the vent could have before causing it to pressurize the crankcase. This one was definitely a homemade job. I didn’t notice if the smoke got better or worse when I had the vent line disconnected. Should I check it with the vent line loose and check the smoke or would that even make a difference? Sorry if I’m getting too long winded here. Thanks again for everyone’s help.
  19. Thanks everyone, I’ve got a lot to consider. Can you do the top end without pulling the motor. If I need to pull the motor I might have to recruit my neighbor to help no way I’ll get it out and on the work bench in my wheelchair. what part of this would I need the dealer or someone to do. Bore cylinder, get bigger piston??
  20. Could the carb be causing it to smoke, just wondering what it could be.
  21. Ok I did that and also held a clean white cloth up to the crankcase outlet and reved the engine and no oil came out of the crankcase.
  22. Ok, I figured out which line it was I took it loose at the crankcase it is the metal line going to the air filter box. I wasn’t sure how to check it but I blew some compressed air through it and it was open. Do I need to check it any other way. While I had the hose loose at the crankcase case I held a clean white cloth up to the crankcase outlet and reved the engine no oil came out when I did that. Don’t know if that means anything or not.
  23. The smoke out the exhaust wouldn’t show up on a video but there was some coming from somewhere on the front of the motor. It was bluish grey. Don’t know where exactly it’s coming from I wasn’t sure if it could be coming from an exhaust leak or not. Some of the oil was burning off the engine on the back too but it was from the oil shower I gave it. That on the front was doing it before the oil bath. I’ll try on the vent line not really sure where it is. Sorry.
  24. I did what mech said I took the oil filler out put a rag over it and some plastic under it. I was standing up and thought it had started raining, the rag came off And now I’m slick as owl do,do. By the time I wiped the plastics off they looked new. Got to soak my shirt in something to get oil out. But anyway it kept smoking with the filler open. If I can get the oil off my phone enough I’ll try and get a video of th smoking it’s coming out the exhaust and somewhere around the front of the motor can’t tell exactly where it’s coming from. Jen I don’t know about child brith either.
