Well. It kinda sparked and maybe the coating of the wire caught fire. ???? the coating was melted and wire was really hot.

ok. when i tried to start it it caught fire on that one side of the battery. Does that mean its touching metal somewhere or do i have a bigger problem.

IT looks there are 2 grounds going to the battery. Do one of those possibly go to the wench??? (or is my imagination running wild).

R there any signs to indicate a problem with needle / seat. Is there a really small hole or something that is in this same area that can be soaked in carb cleaner and very gently be blown out. After taking out needle etc.

I remember watching someone do this. Or...heck....I may have dreamed it.

It does back fire. The kid didn't tell me that it was doing that. Is the carb. Still the 1st thing to check. Please pardon the idiotism

I can't fit a screw driver in there. Far enough to just unscrew bowl. Is it ok to unscrew it from the block.....or is that really even what it is called.

That sounded stupid....is there suppose to gas in the bowl?

Will try just spraying carb cleaner 1 st (. Sorry for bouncing around..easier to post here by phone). Also,I only here the soud when in 4th and 5th gear. Don't know if that helps any

The screws that hold the pick up coil in are really tight and I don't want to stripe them. Any advise. Sorry fpr type

You are Great!!! It is the pick-up coil!!! I tested the one on the old stator and them tested the one on the new one and guess what??? You are Right ON the MONEY!!

Got it. So, if it runs after being pulled off then the stator is good? Thanks for all your help. I hope to understand this all of this someday. I hope I don't question u to death.

Should I check all of the electric wiring? Am I just looking for damaged wires under the insulation sheath?

Thanks OB. I did try to jump it off with no luck. I pulled it with the tractor and it did start but I had to pull it pretty fast. I was then able to ride and it sounded great. I replaced the starter about a yr ago. Don't no if that matters or not???

Thanks for all the info and help. This stuff is driving me crazy. Can the stator have a very low ohms reading and still be good?

I changed spark plug. Made sure wires going to spark plug had good connection. Tested the ohms from the wires coming from stator. One read 291 and the other much much lower, although i can't remember the exact #. sorry. I should have given you more info. hope this is better and thank you so much.

My sons 2000 yamaha warrior will not start. It will turn over but not fire. There is no spark @ the Spark plug. I can pull it off and it runs great. I tested the stator and the ohms were very low on one of the plugs. should i test anything else?? and if so how??? (i will apoloize in advance...i may not know the proper names of some parts..I have never done anything like this....I'm just a mom trying to fix sons bike...if i can.
