2004 Kodiak 400 - Will not start

I just bought a Used Kodiak, that I will be using mainly for Ice fishing, and it ran fine at the guys house started right up and everything seemed fine.

I Got home and Hopped on to take it off the trailer, i Pressed the brake and hit the button and it turned over, fired up and then dies. (it starts cold so I was not concerned.)

When I hit the electric start again there was no noise or anything, Just the coolant indicator light illuminates when ever I hit the button. I cycled through the shifter (park, reverse neutral, and drive,.) and then hit the button again, with the same result.

I noticed the park light does not illuminate, but the reverse and Neutral do.

I tried starting it in Neutral, and again nothing it just illuminates the coolant light.

SO am I doing something wrong?

I finally put it in neutral and pushed it off the trailer, and started googling. I have not seen anything on this being a problem or even what it would indicate. Any help appreciated.

I went from full normal cranking to NO cranking, or clicking

The lights come on, and are not Dim. I will see if the voltage drops on the battery when i try and star it, when I get home, Friday or sat.

      Quad to pull flail mower - Eiger, Kodiak, Big Bear ?

      Hi 
      Is looking for a quad to pull a flail mower as my first priority, but also a bit of fun. 
      So its going to be pulling a flail mower on high grass / weed on a bumpy field at pretty low speed. 
      My budget is not high, so is mostly looking at a old Yamaha Kodiak 400cc / Suzuki Eiger 400cc or similar. 
      What machine would you recommend  ?  - Really want a solid machine since I am no mechanic but can perform a early service myself. 

      (English is not my native, hope it makes sense)

      Pondering on what would be better in terms of practicality vs. money spent. The ATV will be a small 125 cc Chinese brand that can be fully contained in a small euro-van (VW Caddy)

      1. Load the ATV on a trailer while riding it.
      Need to buy the ATV + hook + trailer (+ ramp?) and work on the car to mount the tow hook, of course.
      Perhaps I can find a trailer than can do this -
        Side question: what sort of mechanism that allows such loading is that, or, in other words, what sort of trailer am I looking for ?

      2. Load the ATV inside the mini-van.
      Need to buy the ATV + ramp.
      Also need to push it inside as riding it won't be possible. The thing will weight some 100 kilos, about 1.5 times my body weight. I shall go for the longest ramps that will fit into the van, but still, not sure I can push it in and pull it out of the van without cursing my life - if at all doable.

      What do you guys think ?

      99 Bear tracker no neutral or reverse light or start button

      Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

      2000 Yamaha Breeze 125 slips in Forwards, runs fine in reverse

      Howdy ya'll. I am working ona 2000 Yamaha Breeze 125. It was in rought shape when I received it and I am working through issues as they pop up. The quad had been sitting for years. I was able to get her running again, but I need your help with the following issue:
      I don't trust the transmission yet and I don't want to make problems any worse. So, I haven't pushed things hard at all. Low rpms, less than 5mph in reverse.

      Nuetral: Runs as expected
      Reverse: She seems to be driving fine at slow speeds. Going into reverse at idle is fine, coming out of reverse back into neutral won't work (the shifter is just stuck). As soon as I turn off the quad, I am able to shift around without any issue.
      Forward: It slips. It seems to only transfer power to the wheels on a smooth surface and going slightly downhill. When shifting into forward at idle, there is a clacking sounds during the transition. Shifting back to nuetral works just fine.

      Other Notable Symptoms: There was old oil in the vbelt and when I was tuning the carb, it starting blowing out of the CVT cooling vent at the front of the quad. Made quite a mess. There is positive crankcase pressure due to piston blowby, that I have not decided whether or not I am going to fix (customer budget dependant).  Since the oil was old, much darker than the new oil that is in the crankcase, I am thinking it seeped past a bad seal while it was sitting for years. The oil that was in it when I first got it had gas in it.

      Thoughts: I am thinking maybe there is an issue with the clutch. I worry about the old oil intermingling with the dry centrifugal clutch. I was thinking my next step would be to take the cover off of the clutch and inspect it.

      Let me know what you all think. Any advice and ideas is greatly appreciated. This is only the 3rd quad I have worked on and I have a lot to learn.
