Needing to know what goes between exhaust port pipe and fuel pump connection. Just bought 4wheeler and rubber hose keeps burning holes and gets fuel pump extremely hot. Is there something that restricts the heat to guel pump?

quad is a new to me freebie, pulled carb and cleaned it. got it running and idling nice but mid throttle it craps out and will go down to almost a stall, i release throttle and it just sits there idling away happy as a pig in poop. i was thinking fuel restriction then i noticed the exhaust glowing red in the sunlight. so its running lean

Hey everyone.  2007 Sportsman 800 and the exhaust on passenger side is getting so hot it melted the bottom side of the seat.  It's not low on coolant or anything.  Any ideas what would cause the exhaust to get that hot?
