2004 Suzuki 700 twin peaks noise

Recommended Posts

2004 700 twin peaks

When i get to about 10 mph i get a very (tinny ) noise from the right side of the engine / clutch area.

originally I thought maybe something got caught between axle and skid plate ie : rock and was just rubbing producing that sound.

I took off the skid plate and drove it and still had same sound.

Checked the lug nots and they were a bit loose , tightened them and still same noise.

Took off the what looks like an inspection plate on top of clutch cover and looked inside this apart and it is dry of any fluid.

Not sure if there should be any fluid in there or not had clutch replaced 2 yrs ago with nominal riding since.

I do not have the time or knowledge to take this apart and try and diagnose. The only repair areas around here are absolutely terrible.

The shop I normally do the work are 2.5- 3 mos. behind. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank, you

I'm trying to troubleshoot a starting issue. For a while, maybe a year sometimes I would hit the starter button and I'd hear a single loud click, but the starter wouldn't turn. Usually if I could pull the pull start or roll it in gear it would then start. (now I'm thinking that was coincidence) Now it only clicks. I tried to check what I could, battery is good, solenoid clicks strong, cleaned all connections (which were 80% clean anyway). I started thinking the starter wasn't spinning. I pulled it and it spins freely. The gear that it contacts in the engine-I can wiggle it maybe 1/16th to 1/8th inch back and forth. When I reinstall the starter I feel it jerk when I hit the button. I'm thinking maybe it's the starter clutch? It seems when there's a problem with them they usually just spin freely and don't engage at all. Is it possibly something is causing it to lock? I'm a bit lost now.

Hello, got this bike in to replace the jug and piston. Made the swap, crank looks good, no play in connecting rod. Put it all back together and then heard a rubbing noise in the rear crank case. Ordered a new timing chain and tensioner. Installed them and put it all back together. Fired it up and ran great on the work bench. Took it down and went for a ride and noticed the higher the rpms, the noisier it got. There was a tapping noise on the exhaust side of the valve cover. Removed valve cover. Checked valve clearances, all good. Checked the valve springs, the were a good bit out of tolerance. Installed brand new springs. Same noise. Decided to replace the whole cylinder head with one from a known good bike. Still the same noise. Decided to replace the camshaft with one from a known good bike. Still makes the noise. Replaced lift caps. No change. I’m at a loss on what could be causing this noise. It’s very loud and not normal by any means. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Video doesn’t really pick up the noise good, but it’s there.

      Thanks

I'm having a problem getting a CDI unit that works. The parts list calls for a  4XE-85540-00-00 CDI unit. The one currently on the ATV works but there seems to be a problem with the spark advance curve. It will idle fine an rev. to about 1.5K then  starts bogging down sputtering, popping and basically running poorly. If you can get it above 2200 RPM it runs better. I have ordered and returned about 5 replacement modules that will not work at all. The unit currently on the bike has no part numbers or identification other than a Mitisibuchi logo. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems with replacement CDI's and if so what is the fix? So far I have not found a replacement CDI that will supply an pulse to the Ignition coil.

I have a 2004  Kawasaki KLF300. I’m not sure What is the black/yellow, brown, and red wire wrapped together in the wire hornets of a klf300. I got it used and notice some wires not connected. They are located in the front area

The reason why I am asking because I’m having issues with it firing up. I cleaned the carb put new spark plugs and gas.

I need a repair manual for a 2004 and a 2005 sportsman 90 and I found a 2006 manual for cheap money. Is it worth getting and will it cover everything for the 04 and 05
