Hello all,

I'm about to service my big bear and have a few questions,

1. Transfer case oil- I believe this is the same as the engine 10w40? How much do I need for the transfer and the engine?

2. Is there a link for the oil in the transfer case to back and forth between the transfer and engine?

3. diff oil- I'm looking at doing both best viscosity and how much will I Need?

Thank you

Not without pulling it out and splitting the case.  I've had one once that actually twisted the head off the drain bolt.  Sometimes they have never been apart and the iron plug is welded to the cast aluminum housing due to lack of maintenance.

To answer your questions:

1 and 2: middle drive gear is fed by the engine oil.

3: I usually just go with whatever 90W ish hypoid is cheapest.  These don't make a ton of power or go fast so there's not much heat generated.

      Greetings,
Have a 88 LT80 that been sitting for a couple years. Bought a new piston, cylinder and head. Installed these, rolled it over and it quickly locks up.  Took carb apart. It was full of what appears to be 2 cycle oil. Cleaned it, but keeps locking up and 2 cycle oil continues to seap from exhaust port.  When i installed new cylinder, I noticed crankcase was full of oil.  I'm now wondering if that oil is what's getting sucked up into cylinder.  Should there be no oil in crankcase?  If that the case, how is crank and rod lubricated?  Sorry, never worked on a 2 stroke. Thanks!

I see quite a few ads for that  Tribotex additive. It's kind of expensive, has anyone used it it their ATV or any other vehicle?

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

      Hi guys
My 87 Bear 350 won't start and could use a hand.
Turn key on and Oil light turns on and then slowly fades out. (I think this is key to this) No start, not even a tick.
      battery and connections good
A Solenoid post jump turns it over
Neutral Safety Switch wire attached and seems good
It has not had a wire/switch on Rear Brake Pedal ever since I had it.
Any thoughts on some other things to troubleshoot this??

How often do you change oil in front/rear diffrentials and gearbox?
