So I bought this fourtrax a few years ago.  Put a new battery in and all was great.  A couple of months later I lost all dash lights when I turn the key on and the start button doesn't do anything either.  I can still start it and run it off the kick starter and the neutral an reverse light will work, but you can tell they are running off the stator.  battery connections are all good and electrically closing the starter solenoid will engage the starter and start the quad.  I don't see any physical damage to any wiring off the handle bars/key area.  Does anyone know where to go from here?  I am getting too old to use the kick starter.

Sounds like no  power to the ignition switch . All  I can suggest  is get a VOM or  voltage probe and  check  for power at the input side of the switch.  If no power there you have to trace back  from there to  battery to see where battery power stops.. If you  have power at the ignition switch but not beyond , you  found the culprit. As long as the neutral light is working and  quad is in neutral   that light should show when you turn  ignition on .If the  neutral safety switch is bad  the light  may or may not show but  the quad starter won't engage on the button. When  your quad is running  do the lights shine brighter when you rev up  and does your battery show   charging voltage (  13.2 to14v) and does the ignition switch turn  off the quad? If  yes, there is likely  a broken  wire or corroded connection preventing power to the ignition switch.

There  is a  repair manual that should have an electrical schematic in the downloads section of the forum.   Tracing faults can  sometimes be a bi*** ..  Hopefully  you find the fault  quickly.

This where I am lost.  The neutral safety and reverse works when the quad is running along with shutting the quad off with the key.  Turn the key on with the engine not running and there is zero power to anything.  The quad does not charge the battery either.  There is what looks like a junction box mounted under the handle bars to the frame, do you happen to know what is in there?

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

I am new to this site. I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport I think. Is there a difference between quadsport and quadrunner?

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.
