I have a 89 Big Boss 250 I can get it to idle very slowly with no throttle response.  I did get it to run normally a couple times only after working the throttle every so slowly to get the RPM's up enough so that it would move.  Even when i did get it to run normally it bogged back down for a brief moment then came to normal.  Not sure if it's a fuel problem or if I should be looking into the ignition system for possible low voltage issue.

It it's a carby model then the first thing I'd do would be use the drain screw on the bottom of the carb and catch what comes out looking for water, then I'd turn the tap on and make sure plenty of fuel was getting right through the tap and filters and into the carby at a good rate.

If you have a timing light you could connect it to the bike and watch it when the bike falters looking to see the spark wasn't dying out. If you don't have one then...

If draining the fuel and checking the flow didn't change things then I'd take the carby off and strip it right down, entirely, and clean every jet and passageway, and then check the seals where it fits onto the engine as I was putting it back together.  It will probably be right after that.

Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.
Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.

I've got a 1995 220 Bayou and the electric start does not work.  When I got it the machine was pretty rough but I was told it ran less than a year ago.  The key switch had been cut off and wires  twisted after the key was lost.  I bought a new ignition switch and repaired the wiring and it is working correctly.  It is in neutral and the neutral light is on when the key is turned on but I get nothing when pressing the start button.  I verified there is no voltage going to the starter from the solenoid.  The fuse in the solenoid is good.  Something I found that is odd is that I get positive voltage(12 volts) to the brown, black, and white wires that run into the solenoid when the key is on.  That doesn't make sense to me but I could be wrong.  I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

I've been working on this 4 wheeler for a buddy of mine. I got it running yesterday and went to ride it around the yard on a test drive. Well, it backed out of the garage fine, but when I went to move forward, it wouldn't move at all. While giving it throttle, the bike would lurch forward as if I had the brake on holding it back. Then it died died on me and wouldn't crank. That sounded like the starter was bound up. It's a new starter that I put on not long ago. It's an aftermarket. Also, when I would rev the engine up trying to get it to move, it sounded like it didn't have much, if any, power. It just wasn't revving right. Anybody have any thoughts as to what could be my problem now? The guy doesn't know what was done to the 4 wheeler by a family member. So anything could be wrong with it. Also, it rolls just fine when I had to push it back in the building. I couldn't hear any clanking or rattling in the rear end.

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle
