Hi, all

I have a 2010 Honda try 420 at and I'm having an issue with the transmission.  Every now and then the while riding the transmission goes into neutral or stays in gear high or low.  Recently while riding it stayed in 4th gear, had to come to a stop and rock it back and forth and it want back to first.  Did any one have similar issues and what can be the diagnosis to this problem and is it worth fixing.  I called the Honda atv dealer and told them what happened and they said it's going to be $2000-$3000 to fix that seems crazy.  Any help or idea will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all

I presume you mean a TRX..

You really need to get a service manual and have a read through the diagnostic section about the trans...

I'll get a book and have a read but it's going to be pretty impossible for me to talk you all the way through if you haven't familiarized yourself with the bikes layout and what's involved, and not much point if you don't feel up to doing the checks..

This would be called a rancher would it ? And the trans is called hondamatic ? Sound familiar ?  There are several variations of what can be described as auto.. some are just auto shifting manual boxes.

Oh I see the AT..  I got the model..

Yup well it flashes a code, a two digit code. Count the flashes and let me know what it is and I'll look in the book.. But you really need to look at the manual so you can follow what I'm describing.

The code is probably made up of long and short flashes. Longs are tens and the shorts and ones. So long short is 11 long long short is 21.. I think that's how it will be.

I have a 2009 Honda Rancher TRX420FA with shifting problems.
Usually it shifts ok when cold but after couple minutes it will stop shifting with no codes.
The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in first gear is 74psi. The 2nd shift clutch oil pressure when in second gear is 74psi.
The 1st shift clutch oil pressure when in neutral is zero. The problem is when the tranny is in neutral the 2nd shift clutch pressure starts around 10-15psi and builds to 20psi. Is this normal?

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

I am having an issue with a hs500. I bought it broken and have been trying to get it running. It seems to be starving for fuel. If I put my hand over the intake it will crank but will not run for very long because I'm not able to get the correct airflow with my hand. The things I have done so far are. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, mass airflow sensor, idle air adjuster, fuel injector, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the ecu, and still the same issue. I notice the injector does not spray when removed from the head. I dont know if that is common.

I am out of ideas on what to do next. I have removed the fuel line from the injector and it is getting plenty of fuel. If anyone has an idea on what could possibly be the issue I would be happy to try anything at this point.

Hey guys, so I've been messing with my quad, and between all the starts, the battery is dead. Is there a certain way to charge these? Can I just throw a trickle charger on it and call it a day? can i also jump it like a normal car with a battery pack or is that to much voltage
