So.. It has now become cranky about changing from "drive" to "reverse". Sometimes it's seamless as it's always been, other times it just goes "click, click....click, click " when going from reverse to forward, or from forward to reverse..  Then it gives up and just stops at neutral.  Only thing that seems to help is to give it a bit of a bump / wiggle with my own weight. Any ideas as to what to check? It's low miules / hours .. Dealership maintained..

You should check the shift cable is moving the shift lever down on the engine full travel. I don't think that will be the problem though because that bike has a power shift (electrical/hydraulic).

I think it might have a place on the left side of the engine where you can fit a foot shift lever to test the gears and to get you home if the electrical or hydraulic systems that do the normal shifting plays up. They say to fit that lever and try manual shifting early on in the long and complicated diagnosis process.. So if that lever is in the tool kit, fit that and try driving manually.

I'll see if I can find a service manual.

Hmmm.. I probably been more specific about what trans it has.. there's no shifter peg / lever.. there's only a up and down button on the left handlebar. My only other options are a lever that switches from high range to low range, which seems to be a direct physical connection, not electronic. My drive options are 2 wheel drive, press a button for 4 wheel drive, and slide a lever over the 4 wheel drive button to lock the diff.

It seems to be all electronic. It does have a slide switch to change from auto to manual.. The "click, click, click" problem is present in all drive modes, and is only solved by booty bumping the quad, or, shifting to the desired range while moving slowly.

There's a little lever just behind the shift buttons, that when pulled in, will make it go from drive to reverse, or reverse to drive, in one shot It really doesn't seem to matter what I do, it just glitches, unless I give it the "secret handshake" ( booty bump)

Well I looked up that bike in the parts sites and it shows it as having a "Double Clutch Transmission", which is described as DCT. Then I tried to find a manual and the nearest manual I could find is the owners manual for the same bike from 2020, so I looked up the 2020 model, and it has the same running gear, a DTC transmission. So.. that bit I posted is describing what to do about faulty gear shifts in the 2020 model, which, as far as I can figure, is the same as your bike.

Howdy ya'll. I am working ona 2000 Yamaha Breeze 125. It was in rought shape when I received it and I am working through issues as they pop up. The quad had been sitting for years. I was able to get her running again, but I need your help with the following issue:
I don't trust the transmission yet and I don't want to make problems any worse. So, I haven't pushed things hard at all. Low rpms, less than 5mph in reverse.

      Nuetral: Runs as expected
Reverse: She seems to be driving fine at slow speeds. Going into reverse at idle is fine, coming out of reverse back into neutral won't work (the shifter is just stuck). As soon as I turn off the quad, I am able to shift around without any issue.
Forward: It slips. It seems to only transfer power to the wheels on a smooth surface and going slightly downhill. When shifting into forward at idle, there is a clacking sounds during the transition. Shifting back to nuetral works just fine.

Other Notable Symptoms: There was old oil in the vbelt and when I was tuning the carb, it starting blowing out of the CVT cooling vent at the front of the quad. Made quite a mess. There is positive crankcase pressure due to piston blowby, that I have not decided whether or not I am going to fix (customer budget dependant).  Since the oil was old, much darker than the new oil that is in the crankcase, I am thinking it seeped past a bad seal while it was sitting for years. The oil that was in it when I first got it had gas in it.

Thoughts: I am thinking maybe there is an issue with the clutch. I worry about the old oil intermingling with the dry centrifugal clutch. I was thinking my next step would be to take the cover off of the clutch and inspect it.

Let me know what you all think. Any advice and ideas is greatly appreciated. This is only the 3rd quad I have worked on and I have a lot to learn.

This 2006 ArticCat dvx400 didn't have a reverse cable. I got one and am wondering how it routes? If someone has a dvx400, could post a pic of there reverse cable routing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you and a group of friends decide you want to take a long group trip of camping/riding/overlanding, how far are you willing to drive for your trip? Right now, i find it really difficult to want to drive more than 2-3 hours one way.
