Changing out a starter motor in 2001 sportsman 500 HO

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to swapping out a starter motor on 2001 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO? I have taken a look at it, removed the body panels and it looks like the whole clutch / belt assembly is in the way:confused: Anyone that has done it before and or can give me some advise would be much appreciated.

if your 500HO is like my '07 Scrambler 500HO then you do have to remove the belt cover, belt, both clutches (need puller for primary) and then back cover. after all that it's a breeze to remove the starter. bendix, of course is accessed, if you need to, by removing the pull crank housing. you can work the bendix out with out pulling the flywheel. it's kind of like one of those puzzles you see at cracker barrel.
