Hey all, i got a 523 Ice Cube Kit put in about a year ago and now im loosing coolant out the expantion tank. it only comes out under a good load. I have no white smoke out the exhaust, ive taken the radiator cap off and there are no bubbles even if i give it some throttle, and no coolant in the oil. runs great besides having to add coolant. I also put an aftermarket water pump on not sure if that has anything to do with it, stock radiator and cap. Im just hoping its not the head gasket. want to check out all my options before i rip it open. was going to put the system under pressure and test it but dont have the right size cap. anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Also check out my Carb Question. Are they worth the money? Do they really make a night and day difference. I have the head ported and polished cams ect. stock carb. 2 1/2 inch intake with k&n.

Thanks again.

Sounds like the head gasket is leaking compression into the coolant system. Check the torque on the head bolts first. The bigger carb will let more air into the engine, with all the other mods, it should make a noticeable difference.

I have this bike in my shop for a customer. It was sunk completely under water and left running until it killed. I did a complete engine rebuild. Replaced all bearings, crank, oil pump, and various other components. Engine starts and runs great. It will shift up through all gears perfectly in automatic and in ESP, but when slowing down it gets to 3rd gear and the MIL "-" light comes on and stays on. No flashes or anything and it will not shift gears. Kill the engine and restart in ESP mode and it is able to shift to neutral and start over. Does the same thing while down shifting in ESP mode. I replaced shift angle sensor with no improvement. Checked oil pressures as per repair manual "74psi" and higher with higher RPM's. With no MIL codes to point at an issue. I am at a loss as to what else to check or replace. Has anyone else ran across this issue?

quad is a new to me freebie, pulled carb and cleaned it. got it running and idling nice but mid throttle it craps out and will go down to almost a stall, i release throttle and it just sits there idling away happy as a pig in poop. i was thinking fuel restriction then i noticed the exhaust glowing red in the sunlight. so its running lean

bottom of the tail pipe was rusted out and the little nut also ripped off when i tried to undo it.
a 540 ml soup can is the same id as the exhaust pipe od and the soup can has ridges to make it a tight fit
a little bit of a mickey mouse fix but it works

Hey everyone.  2007 Sportsman 800 and the exhaust on passenger side is getting so hot it melted the bottom side of the seat.  It's not low on coolant or anything.  Any ideas what would cause the exhaust to get that hot?
