Engine is hard starting and when does start engine will only run with choke on idle revs up pops through carb and goes down. when you crack throttle enginge backfires through exhaust and carb. any Ideas would be great thanks

When you say the timing is set, are you talking about the valve timing or the ignition timing? If you have a backfire going through the carb one of them is most likely off. A broken flywheel key will throw off spark timing and the cam timing will look like it is set, but since the timing mark on the flywheel is offset from where it should be in relation to the crankshaft position, it too would be off. You could have a stretched timing chain or a bad tensioner. I would double check all timing components, make sure everything is properly set and the flywheel shear key is in tact. Good luck.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
