Tread Lightly!'s "Ride On" Campaign - PSAs

Recommended Posts

In response to the recent (well... 2005) change from "routes open unless closed" to "routes closed unless designated open" on USFS routes, as well as many BLM travel management plans being revised, we at Tread Lightly! have launched a new campaign to encourage the use of designated trails only.

Please, as you're heading out, verify that the routes you intend to take are a) open, and b) open to your type of vehicle. For USFS-managed lands, that includes the use of a Motor Vehicle Use Map. On BLM, currently many field offices are still using on-the-ground signage as well as Travel Maps. Many local resources are available to help pin-point those routes, nationwide.

The expectation of using designated routes and areas extends across all forms of motorized recreation, from dirt bikes to Subarus and dune buggies to crawlers. Additional information concerning camping regulations, hunting, and seasonal designations can often be found with those maps.

I added more fresh gas it sat one day now, it's acting up again. Before cleaning out carburetor it wouldn't idle good and had gas leaks from carburetor. Now it idles pretty good but, if I increase throttle speed at a certain amount it starts missing bad. I'm going to try and post a short video. Just about ready to give up on this thing.😒  you can see reflection perking in video.

Hello folks, my machine wound up with I think water in the tank etc. It runs but speeds up and slows back down randomly. When not running I don't see gas dripping  from the drain nipple on bottom of float bowl and drain screw is closed tight. With normal idle speed I see no leaking. When the idle speed increases quite a bit on it's own, gas appears to start slowly dripping from float bowl drain nipple? I'm wondering if the carb is flooding and the gas is actually coming from higher up and just appears, to be coming out of nipple but, is actually running down the sides of the nipple? I put a kit in the factory Mikuni carb last year after sitting for a while and I think the gas in the jug I used had drawn moisture. I plan to pull the carb tomorrow and clean everything out. I was just curious if anyone else thinks it's probably something in the carb and is, acutally a flooding problem? Thanks Folks! 🙂

Bucking started about a month ago and works ok after 1/2 hour warmup.  Today while working on it i discovered that if i put the ignition switch in LIGHT position it runs fine right from the start.
I'm stumped!  Any idea why this could be?

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!
