Hey Everyone,

Im new to the site. I just bought a very used 1999 Yamaha Bear Tracker that I new would need a little TLC. I just bought a new Air filter and changed the oil and differential fluid for it. As soon as I had it together it and put the air filter top on it would not start, as if its not getting air. I took off the lid and it started right up. After a few seconds it started spitting up fuel/foam into the air filter box. I took a video of it. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

i would probably first try cleaning the carb thoroughly, making sure the float needle is good. if not get a rebuild kit and replace everything from the kit. that is a ton of fuel coming back ... i would check all the fuel vent lines too. while you are at it, make sure the crankcase vent line is not plugged and check all venting lines, doesn't take too long to do or fix ...

i'm almost thinking it's a breather tube from the crankcase. i looked on my bikes but i dont have any connections of tubes except for the breather and to the carb. the filter looked like it was in place at the front, and with the amount of discharge coming out, it has to be alot of pressure, like the crankcase not breathing. but the vid is gone now. at first i thought it was oil/mixed/water. not sure mario

Thats what i was thinking. Im in no way familiar with that bike so thats why i was asking. Wonder if the head gasket or head is shot or cracked and pushing oil/water mix back into the airbox. Or maybe it was underwater and this is the crap coming out.

Im tapping out :-)

Vent lines were pretty clean. I gave it a carb clean and oil change. Seemed to do the trick. I did notice that the previos owner put way to much oil in it. Also, there was some fuel in the oil. Not sure if that was the main problem. Any ideas why that would happen. I think the guy had this sitting for a long time. I hope thats the reason........Not sure though.

Has anyone had a suzuki 230 quad lock the engine up?  Its a well maintained bike, it locked up when my son was riding it. Pulled the plug, it has connected with the piston. I'm thinking the con rod let go.  I don't have a service manual.  Does the engine need to come out to check further?

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!
