KAWASAKI PRODUCTS TAKE TOP HONORS AT INDUSTRY AWARDS PRESENTATION

Ehlert Publishing Group’s Awards of Excellence given to both Kawasaki KFX®450R and Jet Ski® Ultra®250X Personal Watercraft

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. (KMC) had much to celebrate Monday night as the company took home top honors in two product categories at Ehlert Publishing Group Inc.’s annual Awards of Excellence ceremony. Both the Kawasaki KFX®450R all-terrain vehicle and the Kawasaki Jet Ski® Ultra®250X personal watercraft were recognized as the top products in their respective categories.

Each year, the editorial teams review the many offerings in all of the powersports categories, and then single out one unit in each for recognition. Editors from two of the Ehlert publications—ATV Sport magazine and WaterCraft World—were charged with making the decisions that made Kawasaki the most-recognized brand at the industry gathering.

The all-new KFX450F was named “Sport Quad of the Year,” after also being recognized as the “Best 450 Sport Quad.”

According to the editors, “For 2007, one machine excels in every category and is truly an engineering marvel.” “The KXF450F is more than just another four-stroke race quad. It’s one of the most comfortable sport models with the power and handling to please every type of ATV performance quad buyer.”

Honored initially as the “Best Performance Personal Watercraft,” the Kawasaki Ultra 250X was given top recognition as “Watercraft of the Year,” with the editors saying the award is based on three criteria: “innovation, market appeal, and long-term impact on the industry….no vehicle promises to excel at all three better than Kawasaki’s Ultra 250X.”

Patrick Kelly, KMC director of product planning, said the awards “are the culmination of continued cooperation between the development teams both here and in Japan, and they ultimately win their greatest recognition on the dealer floors. That’s where our customers benefit from the ongoing teamwork to provide the finest engineering and performance available in today’s powersports marketplace.”

I recently was gifted a 1998 Lakota 300 and it was modified to start only by electric start. ( Removed the pull start) So I put together all the parts he was able to find and I believe it's back together like it's supposed to be but when I start it via electric start, it turns over but I do not hear the sound a proper combustion sound makes. Furthermore, I did all the spark tests and it's showing none whatsoever.
I installed a new starter and I believe I installed it correctly. Could I have accidentally thrown the timing off? I lined up the timing marks but the top mark will NOT line up correctly.

I believe the Kawasaki is either an '03 or '04. Green automatic with shifter on the right side. Rear differential was bad, so I replaced it with another. The 4 wheeler rolled in neutral when I parked it in the shop to work on. Took old diff off and replaced it with another one. The diff I put on, turned before I put it on the bike. Once I put it on the bike, the rear end wouldn't move at all. It's like it's stuck in gear. Bike is still in neutral. I've tried rocking the bike while trying to put it in high, won't budge. Can anyone tell me of something to check or try? I haven't opened up the transmission case yet to see what's going on. What should I be looking for?

You guys are my last resort. Got a 2000 prairie 300. Brand new battery, neutral switch, aftermarket carb, spark plug, silenoid, key switch. Fuses are good. No neutral green light, will crank if cross the silenoid, but won’t start. No power at the ignition switch or regulator. I’m thinking cdi box or starter relay. Anyone have any suggestions?

My bayou 250 came to a stop and would not not start, it turned out the starter clutch had a fit and died. I changed the starter clutch which had sheared off the 3 bolts attaching it to the flywheel and everything went smoothly. However, when I went to start it I found it would not start. On investigation I found the timing out of whack, by alot. Thinking it was something I did on the repair, I repeated the process of removing and reinstalling the starter clutch and related components and resetting the engine to TDC. Tried to start and immediately realized the timing was out of sync again.
Is there something I'm missing? Could there have been a bigger issue, possibly on the other side of the engine? I don't understand why, with a brand new starter clutch there would be such movement in the crank. The timing chain and sprockets do not look worn and appears to be tight on the tensioner. When I move by hand everything appears to move as you would expect. But when I try to start it using the starter or the pull start it goes out of whack!
