Suzuki King Quad 700 - Doesnt Disengage 4x4

hey, after a short ride i realized my 06 king quad 700 was in 4x4, the button was in the 2wd position, as was the LCD display. i took a quick look at the actuator and it was hot to the touch, any ideas where i should go from here? thanks

I had this to happen on my 02 prairie 650 in stayed in 4wd and the gages showed 2wd. I pulled the actuator and then added power to it and my actuator was turning but there was a small block on the actuator that was worn so I thought that was the problem the block of metal swivels on a pin it was what contacted the collier to slide it back & forth to engage or disengage 2wd & 4wd. Mine turned out to be the front diff. Now I wll say this my actuator did not get hot. I would pull it out and turn the switch on on your quad and flip it 2wd & 4wd and see if your actuator is working if you have to unplug the wires to remove it just remember to plug them back in once you remove the actuator. Or if you have a 12 volt battery charger you can use it to test the actuator.

I hope you get it fixed soon! Good to hear it's the actuator and not the diff. I got lucky with my prairie I guess you could say my frame broke where the front A-arm mounts so I was looking for a frame and ended up getting an 03 prairie not running for 300.00 so that took care of my diff trouble, frame & left me with extra parts that I sold for 200.00 a used diff sells for more than what I paid for the donor quad and 200 was cheap for the extra parts I sold and the buyer had them sold for 400

      NSFW / Looking for fun ideas for our 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground

      Hi everyone and thanks for reading. 
      My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on. 
      We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best. 
      Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread. 
      Thanks for your help and ride safe. 
      BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      99 Bear tracker no neutral or reverse light or start button

      Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

      2007 Yamaha Big Bear IRS Short

      Hey guys and gals. I've been working on my friends 2007 big bear IRS. Unfortunately after 3 different people got their hands on it and only made things worse every time.  After months of finding just crazy problems everywhere. I'm finally at the point we're its almost 100% !!! But I'm getting a short somewhere between the 4xW switch I believe. I managed to by searching the internet like a  fiend, got my hands on an official Yamaha wire harness for the year and make. But I don't have the numbered component list and to be honest. After hours of going through and making everything so it's  easy to reference. If anyone has a picture of the referenced components. I would be forever in your debt. I've spent hours marking up the blown up diagram so it will be easy, for any possible future repairs. Please and thank you. Here's a picture of what i have so far.  Unsealed it in plastic so oil and crap won't spill or get smudged.       After turning off engine in neutral  starter wont engage If I rock unit back and forth it engages Getting progressive worse.

      Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
      The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.  
      Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
      It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
      Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
      TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.
