Just asking for those that have or have been around them, how well do the diesels do in the winter months? Are they hard to start or do the glow plugs do a good job? Are they reliable? Any other info from folks that know would be appreciated!!

Thanks, Ken

I have a polaris diesel ATV. I think it is a 1999. Runs great. Had 2 batteries but replaced them with a single utility tractor battery. No problems starting, even in sub-freezing temps (I live in Michigan). I use it deer hunting, but deer can smell the diesel. Only issue is when going from 4wd to 2wd the front end seems to stay engaged/locked, making it difficult to steer. Also had some issues with shifting to low, but some tweaks to shifting rods have resolved that. A fantastic working machine. Haven't needed a block heater or starting fluid.

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.
