Questions for you guys, I have a 1996 king quad 300 with less than 2000 miles on it. I started having problems with it starting. had the valves adjusted and it worked for awhile and then started having probllems starting again, had valves adjusted and again it worked for awhile and then it wouldnt start and it seemed each time I had the valves adjusted it was taking less time for it to quit running. I took it in last time for repair and they replaced the whole top end, piston etc. and now it runs pretty well, but I have noticed if I run it 40-50 miles it is hard to start.

Any ideas

Forgot to tell you folks that everytime the valves were adjusted they were tight. Once they were re-adjusted it would run fine for awhile and then it wouldnt start again. Adjust the valves and it would run again. The last time I run it I put about 50 miles on it and had a hard time getting it started once I turned it off (and that is after it was repaired with a new piston, rebore on the cylinder and rings and gasket at $854.00.

Im having the exact same problem with a quadrunner 250. The vavles keep tightening them selves out of adjustment..Best I can figure is its a cam or chain problem but not sure which one..If you do figure this out please let me know what your cause was maybe itll be the same for me..Mine started out the same way but now itll only drive for 10 minutes until the vavles get too tight and it wont run any more, it really sucks..Hope u get ur answer.

I`m with Ox. Check that your timing chain hasnt jumped. Put the piston at TDC. Pull the head cover and check the cams are neutral, and the alignment mark on the cam shaft is right. Check the valve push pads and adjusters are not damaged.

Hi all. I have a timberwolf 250 2nd that will not start.. I thought it was out of time bc the guy I got it from said it just quit on him. The tensioner had a nut welded to it and it was like2 teeth off. I installed new tensioner and chain and it still will not start. It has fire and it will not hit off brake cleaner. It has compression. Haven't put a gauge but I'm sure it will crank and run with what it has. I double checked my work and it's still in time. Spot on. Both valves move. I'm about to put a feeler gauge on them and I'll cone back but other than that any ideas?

I’m having a issue with my choke when its on it runs fine when I cut the choke off the atv cuts off went to take the carburetor off and saw the choke plunger broke at the nut to screw it in could this be my issue? Do I just need to buy a plunger kit and put it on? I took the carburetor off and cleaned both jets anyway just to make sure and it’s still having issues staying on

I'm currently working on an 04 Suzuki Eiger 400 and ran into some issues. Main issue being it's really hard to start. Once I get it started, it runs bad. Sounds like it's missing, which I'm pretty sure is an idle issue. It's not my 4 wheeler. I'm working on it for a buddy. Someone started working on the original carb and 2 jets were missing when I got it to work on.
So, I ordered a new carb. To get it to run, I had to adjust the throttle screw on the handle bar almost all of the way out. Even doing that, it still sounds like it's bogging down and missing.
I did put a gas filter on it, which I'm questioning whether or not that's the issue and it's not getting enough gas like it should. The petcock only has an On, Reserve, and Prime option. It also has 2 ports. I guess I have the hoses hooked up right. There's no way to shut the gas off completely, and also it looks like there's no gas getting thru unless I run it on Prime. Reserve drips gas. I'm going to take it apart today and clean it. I'm also going to take the jets I need out of the new carb and put in the old one.
I don't know what all this person did you the 4 wheeler before I got it. There's odds and ends missing that I've noticed so far. What else can I try or look for? What could be the gas issue with the carb and petcock? The carb was completely off the bike except hanging onto the throttle cable. The diagram I found for the carb doesn't help me with hose placements. Any help, or questions would be appreciated. I can attach photos if it would be of help.

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.
