About Me

My Garage

  1. Ran it out of gas last month... Works fine for 3 or so days then refuses to start.... Changed out the sparkplug and it will run for 15 or so seconds before shutting off.... Cleaned out the fuel system and injector and it misses when idling as well as shutting off at idle every so often... It is giving me no other issues and sounds and runs fine while riding... Only issue is cutting off at idle..... Ideas anyone??
  2. Hi guys Does anyone have a link to a service manual for the 2008 KingQuad fs 400 4x4. I would be very happy to get my hands on a file Thanks. :-)
  3. I have a kq 450 4x4 that I an have a problem with.the bike does not want to move.i am not very familiar with the sheave or clutch that it has on it.my buddy who owned it beat on it prolly never maintained it just so that's out there. The belt is fairly new primary and secondary clutchs are pretty ruff looking the rollers are toast I think but idk. Everything moves fine except for the primary it moves but does not push in to move the belt only at a high rpm will it move sometimes any clue on what it could be other then going out to spend 6 or 7 hundred on a whole new assembly of the clutchs
  4. It is a 2000 kingQuad 300 that is used on the farm daily to make chores easier and faster. I have now cleaned oil out of the starter twice and can not find where it is coming from and why it has all of a sudden started doing this as it has been a great work horse until now. A cleaning only lasts about one day of use and you can pour the oil out of the starter. The oil level in the crankcase is just right and is checked routinely as it has burned a little oil since it was new.
  5. Hi, sorry I'm new to this so not sure if I'm doing it right! I'm from Ireland, recently bought a 2009 Suzuki 750 Kingquad AFi and having a small issue (at least I hope it's a small issue!!) When I start the quad, it fires up, revs etc all as it should, but when I put it into gear and give the throttle a jag it stalls, if I give it the throttle very gentle, it revs up but does back fire slightly and moves off fine! The battery was bad in the quad and I changed that, thinking that the pump wasn't getting enough power for injection and I also replaced the spark plug and cleaned out the main fuel lines. It's definitely better than it was, but does still cut out at times! Once the rev gets up and I'm moving on, it runs like a dream.....flying machine! If I come along the road or fields, and slack off the accelerator to about quarter then throttle on, the quad picks up and away like it should, but when I go back to idle / low rev, I have to give it a lot of throttle to keep going, if I go for a small rev to maybe turn around or run up to a gate, it has a habit of stalling or back firing abit! Is there anyone who could suggest anything I should do / have missed, etc?
  6. I have a 2002 Suzuki 300 KingQuad. Starts hard and drags battery down while cranking starter. put in new battery same thing. When it is running and you shut key off startrer makes a clank. Does this sound like a bad starter or bearing in the starter clutch? Any advice welcome!
  7. Questions for you guys, I have a 1996 king quad 300 with less than 2000 miles on it. I started having problems with it starting. had the valves adjusted and it worked for awhile and then started having probllems starting again, had valves adjusted and again it worked for awhile and then it wouldnt start and it seemed each time I had the valves adjusted it was taking less time for it to quit running. I took it in last time for repair and they replaced the whole top end, piston etc. and now it runs pretty well, but I have noticed if I run it 40-50 miles it is hard to start. Any ideas
  8. I'm having a few problems with my 450, I must start by saying even after all of the grief that I feel that I have suffered through, I still love this machine. OK, Problem one: It feels as tho it idles a little rough, perhaps even comparable to the vibration of a space shuttle cockpit launching. After slight throttle, and I mean slight its fine again. Not really a problem as far as drive ability is concerned, but still a concern of mine. Second problem and the one that bugs me the most. My diff lock / 4wd will absolutely not disengage, getting kind of worried due to the fact I still have 40 or so months left to pay for this "cash vampire". Dealer denied my warranty when I took it in for its first service because there was mud on the bike. Did not know that would deny my warranty but, whatever, ATV warranties are fishy anyway. Kind of skeptical rather or not to take my machine to a Dealer, but with the way things are today with mom and pop shops kind of sticking it to customers to cover there own payroll I don't know where to turn. No offense to the good shops (you know who you are). I have read some forums on this problem, but I feel this problem is a little to screwed up at this early mileage, by the way specs on bike ( 08, 450axi, 760 miles, 109 hours ) please give me some input or thoughts on these problems. Thank you, and sorry for such a long story. P.S. Sometimes when I stop, the moment I give throttle it makes a chirp noise like a tire skid, and jerks. Maybe the belt?
  9. Wondering if the engine cases are the same for Suzuki kingquads 700 and 750.my cases on my 750 are broke and I can't find used 750 cases I have found used 700 cases though. Was wondering if I could use bottom end from 700 and put the top end from 750 would it work?
  10. Hello everyone I am new here. I bought a 2001 Suzuki KingQuad LTF-300F reciently. it has been running great, however I herd clunk, it turned off, I tried to crank it over but no go. any suggestions would be helpful!
  11. I appreciate any ones help. My son but a battery charger on the battery in reverse by mistake for 5 minutes. I changed the battery but there is no activity when I turn the key on. I checked the fuses . Still no electric . Any help tks,Joe
  12. hi ,just wondering if anyone can tell me if i can convert a 2wd 400 fs kingquad into a 4wd .its was made not long after the eiger was discontinued so thinking it be a manual activation not electrnic. and was wondering if anyone has done it? and no i dont want to sell it and buy a 4wd one either
  13. I need a manual please! My diff lock and 4WD will not disengage. Really needing Wiring Diagram. Thanks! Cat
  14. Son put snorkel kit on bike yesterday, now runs a little rough when you lay off throttle and sometimes stalls. When I take off airbox cover it runs perfect, this would mean when I have cover on the snorkel is giving less air, right? So, less air it is running too rich or too lean? Thanks, Kirk
  15. Good morning. I have had this 2000 KingQuad since new - it has 2500 miles/hours on it. it appears that the front out put shaft yoke seal is leaking does anyone have any experience in replacing this seal and O-rings as described in the service manual? Also, can it be removed and replaced WITHOUT disassembly of the engine?
  16. I have a 08 kingquad 750. Just put big gun exhaust, yellow secondary spring, 18 gram rollers, UNI air filter, dynatek fuel controller, new 27x10-12 vampires, and it's snorkeled. Still has some low end lag. All this helped but is there something else I could do? I heard about the vdi but the price is a lil high for me. Any help would be appreciated thanks
  17. my 2007 450 kingquad is stuck in 4x4 and diff lock.will not disengage
  18. With Suzuki running a five year zero percent financing program, I'm looking at the 2012 KQ 750. I've had two Vinson's previously and both ran well. Any pros or cons on the KQ 750?
  19. Hello everybody, I am the owner of a 2005 Kingquad 700 with 10251 km (6370 miles). I bought this ATV one year ago. Since I have this ATV, I have a high oil consumption. 20 fl.OZ each 150 miles. Therefore I decided to change the piston rings and also the valve seals. The ring clearance was out of tolerance. I did not change the piston and the cylinder. The clearance of the new rings are in the tolerance. After the change of the rings and seals the problem seems not to be solved. The oil consumption is still the same. The problem is that the ATV is not smoking blue (like oil burning). The sparkplug is coffe brown in the middle and black outside. The spark plug is completely dry. The coolant has a normal colour. No oil inside. There is no oil leak. The airbox is dry. The engine is starting and running normally!!!! I change also the oil type: 10W40 -> 10W50 Where is the oil going? I am sure that the oil is burned but why is the ATV not smoking blue ??? With this high oil consumption, I expected that the ATV smokes blue or the engine wouldn t run properly. My next step would be to change piston and cylinder.... I am confused and it would be helpful if somebody have a good idea.
  20. I cleaned the carb out and set pilot to factory settings. idles fine but when I throttle the engine up the rpms do not back down very fast. does this mean I am running too lean? the cable does not appear to be sticking as I still have the side still off and can watch the cable. any help is appreciated.
  21. I was using my winch after quad was started and running and my quad shut down. dealer installed winch. never had a problem before. battery is good and found the main power 10 amp fuse blown. replaced. now have lights....but nothing showing on display console and quad is dead. wont start or even turn over..am i missing something???
  22. Hey guys hope everyone is well. I need sum advice or help. Anyways I already rebuilt the carb however I noticed that the carb is spitting sum gas towards the airbox and i did a compression test and i only got 50lbs what should the compression be for these lil monsters bc 50 lbs isn't a lot I figure it will b around 100lb or so. So I'm thinkn a piston, bad valves? it does smoke white but I can get it to run but hard to start and I got to keep the slide all the way open on the carb to get it to even run but once I let the slide down it cuts off so its not even driveable right now plz help me guys trying to get it running b4 we get snow
  23. I bought my wife an 07 450 KingQuad two years ago for her birthday. This year I bought an 07 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO from a buddy who did not ride any more. It was neat to test these two head to head. I thought I would post my findings as well as the feelings from seveal other folks who rode both back to back. First, at time of this comparison the Suzuki had apx. 140 hours, the Polaris had 19. Some might say that the Polaris was not broke in yet, but my buddy rides them hard and I am sure abused it some, so I know the rings were seated and the motor loosened up. So here goes. Please remember these are mine and my wifes feeling mostly with other members of my family thrown in. Yours may differ. The Polaris has a MUCH softer ride then the Suzuki. This is good and bad. On flat hard ground the Suzuki will out handle the Polaris hands down. The Suzuki feels like a sport quad and the Polaris like you are floating with poor feed back from steering input. The Suzuki Corners sharp and crisp, the Polaris seems to plow through the corners. On hard take offs and stops the Polaris really has a lot of body role from suspension movement. The Suzuki not near as much. In a drag race, the Suzuki is faster at least up to 40mph. This was tested severl times with different riders and the results were always the same. The Polaris was not left in the dust, just beat by 1 or 2 quad lengths. At idel the Polaris is smoother. Both quads were smooth throughout the rest of the throttle range. The Polaris is louder than the Suzuki both in exaust and engine noise. The Suzuki has a louder clutch noise. This may be due to the quieter engine so the clutch can be heard better. Let me add that both quads are fuel injected. The Suzuki instruments are electronic and the Polaris has a standard Speedo. The Polaris is easier to toggel through several different guages like tach, odo, hour meter. This all done by way of the reverse over-ride button. The Suzuki has two buttons for trip on the speedo face with no tach avaluable. I give the edge to the Polaris in the instrument department. The gear shifter is easier to use on the Suzuki as it is very easy to shift with your left hand. The Polaris is harder and done with the right hand. The Suzuki does not have the Park function the Polaris has and you must lock the right hand brake on for a barking brake. Both quads have HI, Low, Neutral, Reverse. Now the brakes. The Suzuki uses two hand levers and one foot pedal. The left hand and right foot pedal operate the rear and the right hand operates the front. Polaris uses the left hand to operate all brakes. The first time I needed to panic stop, I almost went into the trees on the Suzuki. The Suzuki has an enclosed rear brake that is inside the axel housing. Sounds like a great idea but I have never had a problem with open disks like the Polaris. The Polaris will stop on a dime. For me the Polaris wins the brake contest hands down. Another note is that the Suzuki comes with ADC standard. Polaris only offers it on the Deluxe Sportsman. Ergos are similar with the Polaris having slightly taller handle bars. Both seats are all day comphy. The Polaris has flat foot boards while the Suzuki has raised foot pegs. I would imagion you get better grip with the Suzuki, but the Polaris is more comfortable and I have never slipped even in thick mud on the Polaris. Both bodies seem similar in with in the seating area. To me, too close to call for a better or worse. Storage is mixed as well. The Polaris has the front storage under the rack and a bigger rear center compartment. The Suzuki has a dry storage bin in the right front fender but is is on the small side. The rear compartment is big enough for most things we carry. Polaris wins this area. Factory tires on the Polaris are larger and have deeper lugs. Suzuki seems to still do fine in the mud and loose stuff. Ground clearance is similar. Also both quads have 4 wheel independent suspension. Now for some real world experiance on the trails. Most of the trails we ride are deep wods with some pipe lines thrown in. We don't race and really just enjoy the ride. The Suzuki is by far on the Sport side of Sport Utility abd the Polaris is on the Utility side. In the woods, the Polaris is like a Cadilac, the Suzuki like a Camaro. All depends what you want out of a quad. I would not trade my Polaris for the Suzuki because of the smooth ride and great brakes. My wife likes the Suzuki and the ADC gives her much more confidense going down hills. If I rode high speed trails, I might go for the Suzuki because of the stiffer suspension and better handeling. The rougher the trail gets, the more the Polaris seems to shine. These are both fine machines and you can't go wrong with either of them. Again your opions may differ, these are mine.
  24. Hi, I have a photo of the power steering. My question is: where, what is the bolt, or as it is unscrewed or screwed something happens? The point here is that I have a backlash on the steering wheel, which fall into the eps and the end. I would like to spin it and see what is forged.
  25. does anyone know how to adjust a clutch on a 1980s quadrunner 250 or 1998 kingquad 300? all help is appreciated. thanks.
