  1. Hello everyone. My first post as a new owner to my first atv. I have a 2012 Kymco Maxxer 450i, which as I have found, is basically an Arctic Cat 450 xc. I just bought the atv and will be bringing it home from my cousins house, where i stored it after my first river test run, tomorrow. During my test run, I got it in about a foot to foot/half of water and got the belt soaked, and of course lost all power. I was able to fix it by popping off the cvt exhaust tube and revving the engine a bit, but this is a problem I need to fix...Before next weekend...I have a big river trip planned that will last the whole weekend. So, the AC/Kymco sucks in water...and for the life of me I cant seem to find a good video or guide on how to snorkel it. Am I to assume everyone just goes at it blind and just figures it out as they go? I dont want to pay $200 for someones pre-packaged pvc tubing, but it would be nice to find something that covers this topic. Tomorrow after work I will get a better idea of it once I have it in my garage. But I want to also know, do I have to snorkel the intake and exhaust vents? should I worry about the airbox as well? I actually have only seen the cvt exhaust vent so I dont know where the others are taking air from. I would love to see some examples of people snorkeling their AC/Kymco atvs so I can kind of plan where I should run my tubing. And I want to try and avoid cutting into my plastics...if possible. I also cant seem to find a replacement for the rubber hose that comes off the cvt, just encase I want to cut it and put it back to stock later to sell. Id like to see how much they cost first lol. Aside from this main questions, any tips or tricks I should know about this model before I spend the weekend putting it through hell? Should I run premium fuel? Yes, I am a noob to all this. I have ridden many ATVs, I have just never owned one. My cousin has like 7 or 8 of them so I have always been able to ride his. Now its time for me to learn lol. Thank you!

  5. I own a 1998 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x2. I recently purchased a Submarine Snorkel brand snorkel kit for it which didn't fit properly, so I decided to build one homemade. I ran 1.5" PVC from the stock air box up to the front of the quad. It passes thru the front right fender and pipes into a 2" PVC mounted to a crash plate on the front rack. I connected the crank case breather line into the 1.5" PVC as well. I made a 2nd Snorkel on left side of quad which is a faux snorkel since it's purpose is to conceal the breather lines I have extended from the rr drum brake, rr dif., and carb. I took care to loop the breather lines a couple of times to prevent water from getting in, in the event I ever sink the quad. I also siliconed the air-box lid and used Dielectric grease on all electrical connections. I don't go swimming with my Big Bear but I do ride thru fairly deep water occasionally and I just wanted the snorkel installed as a precautionary measure for those unexpected dips u take when traveling across what u thought was a shallow puddle on the trail. LOL. Any way, since installing this snorkel my quad has an odd throttle response. When riding at normal speeds it's unnoticeable, but when hammering the throttle or fluttering the throttle the response seems to lag. I also notice if I'm in a gear too high for the slower speed I'm going the quad sounds like it's about to stall. I know normally u downshift the slower u drive, but it used to drive in a higher gear at low speeds and not bog down like it does now. I'm told I should re-Jet my carb. I'm pondering installing Dial a Jet. Any suggestions from you experienced riders? Removing the carb is a PITA and reinstalling it is equally fun. I've already rebuilt the carb prior to snork install. I like the concept of a dial a jet being able to adjust on the fly, but wasn't sure if it's the way to go. Please help. Any advice is greatly appreciated guys!
  6. Son put snorkel kit on bike yesterday, now runs a little rough when you lay off throttle and sometimes stalls. When I take off airbox cover it runs perfect, this would mean when I have cover on the snorkel is giving less air, right? So, less air it is running too rich or too lean? Thanks, Kirk
  7. I am replacing the seals on the water pump . I notice between the oil and mechanical seal there is a fine grits of sand that entered the weep hole . Some are putting fitting in the weep hole and route an hose to the handle bars and problem solve .On a mud pro the weep hole is close to the edge of water pump no room to install a fitting so my question is : if that mod was done with success by someone ,I would like to know what kind of fitting that was used. Thanks Alain
  8. What's up I just picked up a 98 bigbear I'm lookin to build a snorkel and try to make it as water proof as possible.. That being said I'm just curios if anyone has one that's done this or tryed this before.. Just trying to find out if anyone knows where all the breathers are like crank and maybe diffs.. If someone could help me out that'd be great just trying to hit some deep holes with out filling my motor.. Thanks alot
  9. I am thinking about snorkeling my ltz-250. I was wondering if anybody has ever snorkeled a ltz? I took some pictures of how I want to run it. I just dont know what size I should use. It is going to be a homemade snorkel made from "pvc pipe". This first picture is where I want the snorkel to come out of the air box. Then is will run from the to where the second picture is. Then "through/under" the front fender. And Finally up by the front. Thanks for any advice. Thanks, LTZRider
  10. hey all just about to purchase a snorkel kit for my 05 660 grizzly and was wondering about something. the one kit im looking at is the nicest looking yet, but it is only intake, cvt and other vent lines. i saw other kits that include the drive belt. just wondering which one i should go with. if i really don't need a breather for the belt, im ordering the kit online today. i have driven in water before lots of times and my belt has never slipped once. thanks david

  13. I have a 2005 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 and I am wanting to install a snorkel kit, pipe and a pipe extender and i was just wanting some input on the best way to go about this and different types that would be best. Thanks
  14. I just had my Cat snorkeled by East Coast ATV Snorkels and was checking out their other products. The just came out with a cool looking system for the new Renegade, check it out.
  15. I have a 1986 225 moto 4. I have been just playing with it for fun and i put a snorkel on it. In the air box under the seat there is a hole in the front of the box. That is where i have ran the tubing for the snorkel. It is sealed really well and seems to work. The only question that i have is that i seem to have lost a good bit of power. I know that they are suppose to lose some power when a snorkel is added but i dont think is much. When i take the airbox top off add run it it seems to run perfect, (power and fast for a moto 4). However when i put the lid back on the power is lost. I was wondering if it was not getting enough air. Not sure??? Could i add a Y coupling to the one tube and then run 2 air lines off of it. Also when i run over a bump and the rear tires come off the the ground a little bit it seems to speed up and run perfect. Could a bulb or something be cloged in the carb?? I know that this is a long question but this has been bothering me for a while. I confused at all please let me. Thanks
