About Me

My Garage

  1. Ride Review: As the owner of a pretty tricked out 2008 Kawasaki Teryx, I am very familiar with the Teryx. My Teryx did not stay stock long, but I recently spent three days in a bone stock 2008 Teryx on a ride to the Grand Canyon. The 2008 Teryx is a great machine, but my biggest complaint was that it came out with carbs instead of fuel injection. In less that a year since the first Teryxs hit dealer floors, Kawasaki dealers are already selling 2009 Teryxs with EFI. The New digital fuel inject on the Teryx is really nice. The engine starts right up and idles smoothly. On acceleration, the 2009 Teryx felt more crisp and seemed to get up to top speed a little quicker. While it is not a night and day difference, I definitely preferred everything about the EFI on the 2009 over the carburetors on the 2008. Next up on the list of what's new is a fuel gauge. I know it doesn't seem like something to get that excited about, but I do some long distance rides, and the fuel level display takes the mystery out of "I wonder how much fuel I have left?" The Teryx Sport has upgraded aluminum wheels which not only look much better, but are also 2.2 lbs. lighter than the standard steel wheels. Losing unsprung weight not only requires less energy to get the tires spinning, but also helps the suspension work better. And as a little bonus, the aluminum wheels are actually strong that their steel counterpart. Suspension is on the 2009 Teryx Sport has a few upgrades as well. The gas-charged Kayaba shocks have reservoirs all the way around to help reduce fade in rough terrain. The preload adjustment is step-less, and they have fully adjustable rebound and compression (high and low speed) damping. Although we did not have any opportunities to jump the new Teryx Sport, we did get into some nasty whoops and hard g-outs. I felt the Teryx Sport suspension handled the terrain better than a standard Teryx suspension. The ride through the light chop was a bit smoother than a standard Teryx and when we got into the whoops I felt a little more comfortable as well. Although I was able to bottom out the front shocks on a few hard g-outs, a standard shock would have gone to the stops more often and with more force. Overall, even though I did not spend any time trying to fine tune the adjustments on the new Sport shocks, I think they are a worthy improvement over standard shocks. The Lime Green plastic on the Teryx Sport is a great color. Much more sharp than the drab green found on the 2008 Teryx. And with all the UTVs out in the dunes in Glamis, there is no doubt that you are in a Kawasaki when you are driving it. The 2009 Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4x4 Sport has a MSRP of $11,899. A full list of all new 2009 Kawasaki Teryx improvements and photo galleries can be found here. I checked the plugs and cleaned gapped ect they are fine... radiator is clean and not stopped up, oil level good, injectors working property and clean..... I just don't know what else to do to it.... HELP!
  13. I'm looking at buying my first sport quad, first yamaha, and first raptor. So of course I'm clueless on these. I have yet to see the quad in person as its a little over an hour drive from my house so I'm trying to get all the info I can before deciding if its worth the drive. It is a 2009 model and the SE. I was asking the guy about mileage and hours and he at the moment wasn't sure on hours but when we talked miles he said "It's still in kilometers, but I think there is right around 1000 miles on it. Not sure on hours right now." Why would it be in kilometers and is it hard to change it to show miles? I know in person condition is everything but if it has 1,000ish miles on it is $4500 to much for this quad? 2009 raptor 700r SE. So far all I know is "I have a 2009 Special Edition Raptor bought new in Summer/Fall of 2010. All stock except slip on exhaust and nerf bars. It has low miles and hours. It has honestly been babied, and oil changed and maintenanced very well. Still has original tires with decent tread. I'd like to have around $4500 for it, but will listen to reasonable offers, and then the kilometers guess at 1,000 miles."
  14. I have a 2009 Arctic Cat MudPro EFI 700 ATV, it is located in Battle Ground, WA - I bought this amazing 4 wheeler for $9000 ($9,500 after taxes) and only had about 6 months to ride it. I took it out about 20 times in those 6 months. I then moved away to another state to attend college. The ATV has been kept by a friend of mine and not ridden for the last two years. It has very low miles and hours on it. It is in better than fair condition, I loved it so much that I had kept planning to come get it and bring it to my new state but due to a busy schedule I decided that won't be possible in the near future. So instead of letting it sit without a home and someone to ride it, I decided to let it go for a very cheap price. I am asking $4,500 firm. When pricing it I searched all around the internet and craigslist to see what others are selling theirs for, they were ranging from $6,000 to $9,000 I did not find any priced as low as what I am pricing at, feel free to search around for yourself to see what I mean. My friend who is keeping it for me has the title. He is willing to show you and let you test drive the 4 wheeler. If you are considering buying this amazing machine, hurry because at this price it is bound to go very very fast, it should be going home with you and you know it! Any questions please reply here or PM me, thanks.
  15. I just purchased my atv and the 4 wheel drive is engaging and disengaging while riding the bike in HI 2WD. Any ideas??
  16. i am running out of options and not sure what to do anymore. i have an 2009 honda rancher 4x4 foot shift model. i have only put about six tanks of gas through it since i bought it. i have developed a really bad grinding noise from the rear end only when you make right hand turns. it does not grind while driving straight or turning left only when you turn sharp to the right. you can hear it and feel it throughout the bike. it has been into three different dealerships now and not one dealership can figure out what is causing the grind. they said the bearing all look ok, the shims are to spec and everything in the rear end looks normal. it has solid rear end with drum brakes. Is this a normal sound for this model ?or does anyone know what is causing this grinding noise?
  17. I just dug my Outlander out of The snowbank last weekend (yes we're just in the transition from Skidoo to ATV Season) I did my spring once over and changed the oil a few days ago and noticed there was gas in it. In fact instead of 3L of used oil there was 4.5 L of liquid.... After driving for a few days (maybe only 10 - 20 km) I rechecked my oil and it smells like there is some gas in it again. Any suggestions on where to begin my trouble shooting? Thank you Jeff
  18. I have a 2009 Polaris outlaw 90 quad. I have no spark. I'm trying to narrow it down what's wrong. I'm wondering how many of the stator wires are supposed to have juice? As of right now, 2 of the 4 have juice. One goes to the headlights and the other one goes back to the regulator.
  19. I'm looking to get new tires for my bike. Im gonna keep the same stock size but want to go to a mud tire. Any suggestions to where I won't lose power of have to do any mods.
  20. I was dragging some small tree branches yesterday and my grizzley 700 (EFI) backfired and died. Until that moment, it has run perfectly since I bought it new. It restarts but doesn't want to keep running. After sitting for an hour, it started, ran for 30 seconds and then died again and was harder to restart. It has less than 200 miles, has never been in water, and has good gas in the tank. I called my dealer and his guess was the fuel pump. I don't have a service manual. Is there a fuel filter in the fuel line somewhere? Is the fuel pump in the gas tank? I will probably buy a manual; are the aftermarket ones good enough? Yamaha wants 80 bucks for theirs. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  21. I have an 09 king quad axi that has what I think is excessive gear noise when you let off of the throddle. I have ridden an 05,06,07 king quads and none of them have the noise:skeptic:. It gets louder the longer you ride. Does anyone have an 08 or 09 750 with this noise.
  22. has anyone out there tried 30" meats in place of the 28"s ? if so how did it work out? will it still have enough grunt to churn them in the mud? will i need to re-clutch? or need after market CDI box? any input would be appreciated.
  23. I swamped my 2009 Kodiac. I drained the water and the belt seems dry now (opened it up). Now the machine will only do 50, it seems like it is reving really high now. Help.
