  1. Replaced clutch bearings........ either not getting enough rpm's or the belt is slipping any known information would be appreicated 2004 90 sportsman...............
  2. my quad wont start no power when the key is on, no lights no neutral light. it was running fine put it in reverse and it died. and nothing.. battery is good starter and solenoid are good... checked the fuses they are good (range fro 10 to 15 Amp). there is a big one that did not test or checked but it is expensive to replace, but not sure what it does anyways any ideas ? Thanks slm
  3. Educating myself getting ready to buy my first 4x4 and have some questions. 1 - Engine size. One of my wants is to be able to pull a trailer up a trail with a decent amount of camping gear piled in, so I've been told to either look for a good size motor or one with hi-lo gears. From what I've learned so far it seems that something like a Sportsman 500 HO or 550 Griz would do that job fairly well. But for the sake of opening up my options could I possibly look into a smaller engine than these if it had hi-lo? Put another way...what's the smallest engine size I should be looking for on a machine that has hi-lo considering my pulling needs? 2 - Can add power steering? Is it possible to add power steering to a model that didn't come with it, but other versions of that same year's model did? For example some of the 2008 Griz 550s came with PS and some didn't. If I found one that didn't have it could I reasonably assume I could add it later considering the frame and equipment has probably already been designed to work with it? 3- Mileage and age. Most of the machines I'm seeing have between 500-1200 or so miles and I'm wondering how many is too many? Seen some with 2-3000+ and I'm most def staying away from those. But whats the mileage limit where you can expect major things (read expensive) to start going wrong with the machine? I've heard someone generally speaking say they would rather take a 2006 with 1000 miles on it vs a 2012 with 2000. Would most people agree?
  4. can anyone tell me if power steering is on my utv?just got it and don't have any manuals w/ the side by side.it doesn't feel like it but was wondering.also,loud noise from underneath seems like.ive read a few posts where people have complained about the noise as well and the heat and dust coming up from the cockpit area.what u guys think.any advice.thanks

  6. i have a 2005 Polaris magnum 330 4x4 when i would turn the key to start it nothing is getting power so i replaced the switch and still nothing ive checked all the wires they checked out ok but if i run a wire from the battery to the switch everything works dont see and fuses or any relays except the fusible links by that come off the starter solenoid and they test out ok
  7. My friend has 2007 Honda TRX680FA Rincon. He wants to know if there is a power steering mod available for this? I don`t see anything in the service manual indicating it might have been a stock option.
  8. When I back up with a load on the atv makes a sort of muffled backfiring noise and does not seem to have very much power. Any ideas?
  9. My 1999 500 Sportsman runs but has no power and backfires through the carb. Doesn't even have enough power to get up the ramps to the bed of my truck. Has new carb. Engine was rebuilt but I don't know if everything was new when they rebuilt it.
  10. hey guys im new here and i have a problem, if its major or not i dont know but it is annoying. i have a 2004 polaris magnum 330 4x4 that i have been fixing up, now my problem is this: i had it turning on from the keyswitch, now out of nowhere i turn it on fine this morning so i switch it off and now it wont even give power to the instrument or anything, now i checked all the wiring and i see no problem, i searched and found that sometimes the ecm malfuntions and that couses it but i have an extra i got with a parts bike and it does the same, im at ends with it and hopefully someone on here can help, thanks in advance guys for any help i get. ps these are the faces i made all day from morning to now

  14. Hey guys, brand new to the post. I have a 2000 Quadmaster 500. Long story short, my atv wouldn't start this spring due to gummed carb. Pulled it apart and cleaned everything, and replaced float needle. Put everything back together, cleaned the fuel tank and put new fuel in her. She started great and idled fabulous. I went to go for a rip and found I only had half power. Flat out throttle and I only had maybe 10-15 miles an hour. It wasn't choking or flooding or running rough. It just felt like half power. HELP!!
  15. I have a 50CC kids ATV with 2 cycle engine. It starts fine but quickly loses all power when throttling. Any idea what to look for when I dig into it? (I've never worked on a 2 cycle engine before)
  16. My sons kazuma 70 has been loosing power and doesn't want to pull up a hill. I'm thinking. It's the clutch but I'm no expert. I tried to adjust the clutch but the stud seems to spin freely and doesn't tighten up in the counter clockwise position. Am I on the right track or am I looking at something totally different. Please help
  17. ok, here's the skinny... rideing my 98 bayou 300, its like 2am, and having lots of fun.. Thin... OHH SH**... tree... the bayou climbed it like a monkey, my head lights wher pointed at the sky. i checked it over and no damage. so i parked it for the night. 2 days later i take it out for a ride and its overly loud and and losing power when i hit the gas. i checked the exhaust and no visible damage. i checked everything i can think of and still the same:aargh: can any one help?
  18. so finally got the quad started after the winter, I use a 1987 LT-4WD on my ground for "yard work", today after a very hard start, the choke cable snapped, fixed that (temp), got it running, idle is rough. added some seafoam to the gas to help clean it up. Hooked up lawn aerator loaded with cynderblocks and the quad would not go. seemed like it was trying, but nothing. reverse worked fine. hi, low, 4wd, no difference. anything forward was no joy. So, the engine lacks power. pulled the sleds fine over the winter - and before that, now is the only time she wont budge!
  19. Pfizer Corp. is making an announcement today that Vi**** will soon be available in liquid form and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. Pepsi's proposed ad campaign claims it will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this a soft drink. This additive gives new meaning to the names of cocktails, highballs, and just a good old fashioned stiff drink. Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of Mount & Do.
  20. Ok, so last month I noticed my 96 Yamaha big bear 350 SE was lacking power. I took off the clutch cover and found the centrifugal clutch was very worn. I replaced the clutch with a 2ed hand one that was in good shape and has lots of material left on it. I also replaced the clutch packs as I figured I might as well for the extra $40 seeing as how I had it apart. Changed the oil. Have 10w40 atv oil in it now. So I took it out today and still no power. It starts and idles fine but in higher gears it will bog down and if I try to spin the wheels by pushing against a telephone pole, ect it will just start to push and then bog down. It won't spin the tires at all under load. -I've cleaned the carb a million times. -No holes in any intake boots ect. -Air filter is clean. -I've adjusted the clutch from one extreem to the other with that little screw on the side with no change at all -I've played with the air/fuel screw on the carb with no change at all -I haven't really checked compression but it will blow my thumb right off the hole when cranking It just started doing this suddenly and I'm running out of ideas on what it could be. Any thoughts?

  22. Everything was great and just start loosing power as I accelarate and them start the pop noise from the muffler like firecracks Starts ok but just goes very slow and loose power bad and pops,,,,,what is wrong ? any ideas? ty for any help
  23. I left the key on, went to start up before next outing 2wks later now i have no electrical power:( I've changed the battery, starter relay and 5VK Realy Assmbly. All fuses check out good. Don't know what to do next.
  24. :confused:i'v a 94 400 pols. that is giving me some fits-- 1. starts on choke just fine-after a few secd. off choke and idles fine 2. goes into gear just fine,and throttles up just fine 3. after running --maybe five mn. or so--starts to bog down 4. at this point you can feel a lot of heat comming off motor 5. i'v only heard the fan come on once since i'v owned it,and at this time the red lite came on also 6. this atv only has 800 miles on it, and to my knowledge has never been beat up 7. if you let up on throttle it starts to run better,but soon bogs down again--i hair above idle will get you back home,and thats it- ** i'v gone through carb,and pulled fuel line to make sure it's getting plenty of fuel- ** changed plug ** checked raid. for coolent , and it's on top any help is appreciated , thanks , steven
  25. Hi Guys, Im looking for tech advice on a little quad. First of all I dont have alot of expierence with quads but I love to learn new stuff about small motors. I told the guy I would take a look at it. It hasnt been run in two years. He also said while his son was running it a bolt came out of the engine.(I dont know what that bolt does) I think he ran it low on oil. Here are the symtoms. I rebuilt and installed carb. checked compression. 180psi. Started it and adjusted carb. Then as it warmed up I started to lose power. Then it would not turn over.I hope I explained it right? Any ideas, Anyone. Thanks a bunch. Bruce I looked up what the bolt is called. Its the oil gallery plug.
