Hi, I am recently new to quads and want to learn about the basics and know what i need in case i buy one this coming winter, i am currently looking at quadzillas due to them being available where i live and when looking a better choice than a yamaha raptor as i have a couple friends who rebuilt the engines on them 2 or even 3 times and always had somekind of problem. What do i need to look for when buying a quadzilla engine wise and what do i need to check before purchasing one. I heard the quadzillas are reliable and are not a bad quad overall and they do not look bad either. Also what are typical problems with the engine and what do i need to regularly check / maintain to ensure i can ride with peace and not need to worry about anything breaking, how much do they also last in terms of miles and ride time ( i know this depends on the use, i will mostly be doing off road and some street use so around the 40-60 mark if they reach that ) And to service / maintain them what do i need before hand, what oil, what sparkplugs and anything else such as coolant for summer / winter use. And if there is any aftermarket parts / components that i can invest in please let me know to explore my options. Thank you very much and i appreciate the help which i may get and hope to get into the quad scene soon!

Hi folks, a little disparity brought me to this forum. To set the stage, I'm a 35 auto tech in the industry 37 years now. Licensed motorcycle tech also, 20+ years. I race superbike and motocross. Always done most of my own standard work (outside of specific race machine works) including building my own race bike engines. Now that skills are out of the way, onwards and upwards. Helping a neighbor with his old quest 500, right front axle seal leak. Well, looks like everything else - right? Wrong! Initially I noticed the CV joint was lacking large lands to place prybars on to pop it out, rather a thin shield like ring very close to the diff seal. Knowing the ring appeared quite delicate, I only pried gently and the CV popped out. However this is where things get weird. Came out only around 7-9mm then hung up again, felt like the clip was catching inside the diff. So spun and pulled, spun and pulled until I was blue in the face but no success getting it out. Also while it was out, I could see that the delicate ring around the outer circumference of the joint was actually the sealing surface where the seal contacts, instead of the norm where the seal rubs inside the diff much deeper and stays cleaner. I've never seen a joint like this, also the service manuals photos which apply to 650 also reflected a standard joint I am accustomed to rather than this one I was fighting with. Rather than break something in the diff, I decided to stop while I was ahead and reassemble the machine before something broke. (The joint would pop in and out of place easy enough, just wouldn't slide out further than 7-9mm). While the joint was a little out and sealing surface exposed, I cleaned the seal and sealing surfaces clean as possible before putting back together. Seems to be holding for now, but eventually I'm sure the leak will come back. Any thoughts as to why that CV joint just refused to come all the way out?

My Quadmaster runs great on level ground and downhill. The other day we were going up a slight upgrade and it backfired and lost power going uphill. My neighbor says it needs a new spark plug. thoughts? I bought a new spark plug, however, I cant find where the spark plug is. Obviously Im not a mechanic! I looked everywhere without taking parts off. Can someone please tell me where the spark plug is? Very much appreciated!

I have a 1999 Sportsman 500, it was running fine, than started to lose power in the winter, I adjusted the idle screw and away I went, than a few weeks ago it died, I have found that i am flooding the engine, compression was at 70PSI and due to the compression release mech. i assume i am good as it compared to the same PSI on a 2000 sportsman 500 i have. i cannot start the atv unless i go full throttle and it starts an runs for about 30 sec than dies, again it is flooded. i ordered a new carb off ebay as i could get one for around $40. put that in same issue, i have checked the timing, (good), valves out of adjustment i adjusted to .006 still same issue, i have found the exhaust lobe and rocker arm to have some wear, i have ordered new ones, but am looking for any other input in this area as well. would the exhaust cam and rocker arm cause the engine to flood? i have used a bore scope and the piston liner has good cross hatching still? any input would be great.

Hi I'm new to this forum and am searching for help. I just bought a 2008 Kazuma Jaguar 500 (couldnt pass up the deal for the plow) and when I try to engage the electronic diff lock the ride stalls out flat. anyone have any ideas? I have not even ran a test light from the switch to the diff yet just brought it home tonight. thanks

I changed the starter and starter solenoid. Battery died so I bought a new battery. Hooked up positive post first then I went to hook up negative wire and the atv tried to start. Key is not in the ignition and start switch is not being depressed. Anyone ever have this issue? I was going to check solenoid with meter, but haven't had a chance yet.

Hi All, Has anyone found engine oil in their air filter box. The must be little or no baffle between crankcase ventilation and that hose that attaches to the air filter box. I went to pick up my ATV today 60 miles away that they could not fix the jerky low speeds on and before I loaded it decided to check on this. Sure enough there was a good coating of oil with some pooling in the bottom of the air filter box. The air filter has oil on it too but is it a dry element or oiled element type. My guess from the color of it dry. I heard on a comment on my YT videos that there is a kit for this issue? Is this a CFMOTO fix? Thanks Kevin
