  1. Hi All, Has anyone found engine oil in their air filter box. The must be little or no baffle between crankcase ventilation and that hose that attaches to the air filter box. I went to pick up my ATV today 60 miles away that they could not fix the jerky low speeds on and before I loaded it decided to check on this. Sure enough there was a good coating of oil with some pooling in the bottom of the air filter box. The air filter has oil on it too but is it a dry element or oiled element type. My guess from the color of it dry. I heard on a comment on my YT videos that there is a kit for this issue? Is this a CFMOTO fix? Thanks Kevin
  2. after working great all weekend today my big bear 400 wont start. I noticed a strong gas smell, took cover off air box and found 2 inches of gas in the box. I figure this has to be a carb problem but hoping someone can pinpoint exactly what to look for/replace. thanks!
  3. Hey I have just recently purchased a 1985 Yamaha moto 4 200 and found that the air filter case is not only busted open but also missing the filter and element. I have searched for these parts online and have yet to find any out there for sale. I was wondering if there is a way to make my own air filter case with filter or some way to go about fixing this problem. Any help would be much appreciated thank you . Can post pictures if need to
  4. I just picked up a cheap big bear Im trying to fix up needs alot of work so going thru it piece by piece. 1. The air box is completely stripped no breather hose, no hose to carb, and no filter or pieces inisde. Can anyone tell me if the typical K&N air filter comes with everything I need... I know it was a oiled element stock that slid onto a sleeve which I dont have so Im trying to find the quickest easiet way to get it back together. 2. I bought a new ignition and plugged it in and it started hissing and getting hot at the plug connection, I ripped it out quick and checked with my meter and it still seems to be ok. So can anyone tell me if there brown wire the wire thats hot with ignition on has continuity to ground.... I traced mine all the way back to getting ground thru the neutral and reverse switches thru the relays and all. The only other thing I can figure is it seems when i pulled the ignition plug off the 2 prongs looked like they are pushed in too far as if they wouldt insert/engage into the female plugs on the opposite plug and maybe its jumping/arcing and shorting out. I do have a service manual, wiring diagrams, and found OEM parts diagrams I just cant make sense of these couple things with out a little direction. Any ideas???
  5. I'm brand new to riding. Also brand new to fixing and/or maintaining a vehicle. I picked up a 2008 KFX a couple months ago and just realized that a wire was hanging. After downloading the owner's manual, I think I may have narrowed it down to the "Inlet Air Temperature Sensor". It fits in a slot underneath the seat, in the air filter housing. I'm not sure how long it's been unplugged and, honestly, I have no idea what it does. How important is this piece? I'm going to the track this weekend. I'm not even sure how to reattach it.   6. I had water in that box under the seat so I thought I had better look at the filter. By the time I got it back together I was almost in tears, and I used to work on British cars. I tried to remove the lid and it wouldn't come off until I removed the whole air box. To get it back on I had to remove the mounting bolts for that water catch box and separate it from the throttle body. I had to put the factory intake pipe on the air box 1st hoping I had it positioned right and fish it up through there. Basically the whole system is in it's own way. I also had it jacked up with both front wheels removed. Am I missing something here or is there a trick to this? I also wanted to ask if any one knows the HP rating for my machine? Arctic cat seem to think it's a secret
  7. Hi. The air cleaner case has 2 ducts coming from or into it one goes to the carb. The other duct on mine is not connected to anything other than where it comes out of the case. It has an open end about 1 1/2" dia ending under the gas tank with a crankcase breather connected to it. Where should it connect to ??? (cannot see it in the service or owners manual) nor can I see any suitable connection point.
  8. I have a 2000 that runs great until you put the air box cover on then it bogs down at about 20 to 25 mph. Any suggestions?
  9. Hi all, I have a 2007 king quad 450 with starting/idle/power problems. My two boys had a go at it while I was away at work and now I found that the idle air screw was removed and I don't know about setting it up. I want to set this before I start on the other problems. New fuel pump, new injector, new foam air filter, error code reads -C00. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Am I missing something, or is the lower air-box all but impossible to replace once it's been removed? I guess in hindsight maybe I didn't need to remove it to get the carb out, but it's out now, and doesn't want to go back. I'm considering cutting out an inch from the back and making it shorter, but obviously that won't be a quick task. Might be easier to just get an after-market filter and get rid of the box, but I really hadn't planned on that. Suggestions???
  11. Found part of my air box seal hanging out from under the lid the other day. Is this something you can normally clean like an air filter (flash point solvent / gasoline), or just replace it? Everything else looks ok; arrester, air ducts.....just a little gunk in the air box itself. TIA!!! -TD
