Looking forward to posting some questions on here, doing some reading on here, and enjoying the company of others. So I bought a 1994 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 from a buddy of mine for $1,000. He has had the ATV for about 2 year. No rear problems when talking about the motor. It has failed to start some, and unfortunately it does not have a pull string. Not sure if that is something I can add on later or not. But we traced the issues to the starter and replaced it. Now it starts easily and has a new battery and starter that he bought . Issues I am going to be working on, and asking questions about: Hours display is broken and doesn't show anything at all Would like to possibly add a speedometer at some point Rear brake doesn't work until the pedal is all the way down to the floor, and then it engages, doesn't really brake. I'm thinking this is a simple adjustment ATV pops and clicks when turning. Was thinking CV axles, but not sure and want to be 100% sure before I order replacement parts Need to learn the braking system better. It has two hand brakes and then the pedal brake. What's the difference and how do they all work together. Assume one is a hybrid brake that engages both front and rear at the same time, but not sure Need to clean/paint the hubs The shifting is tough and some times requires more pressure than I'm comfortable with. Not sure if it's lubrication, or an issue with the linkage. Need to learn that too. Having a hard time finding a manual online, need to buy one probably I have around $500 to invest into the ATV. I am hoping this will take it back to really nice riding condition. Any thoughts on the above issues/concerns? I plan on using the search functions as well. Looking forward to hearing from you all. - Brandon

Own a 1998 Big Bear 350 4x4. Riding last summer down the road full throttle and the 4-wheeler backfires, dies, and rolls to a stop. When I pull on the pull start handle and rope, it is very easy to pull like there is no compression. Novice when it comes to engine diagnosis and teardown but I am thinking maybe I broke the crankshaft. Any ideas??? Potential cost???

I recently picked up a 99 Big bear 350 2x4 and was going to add a winch. It looks as though I'll need to custom make something to mount on frame. I bought the Badlands 2000 and winch plate, but will still need some some sort of mod to get it to work in the front. Anyone have any pics of a similar model big bear with a front winch mount to give me more ideas? Anyone have welding skills and live close to Frisco ,TX and want to come by and help out? Thanks,

90s Big Bear Air Box & Wiring Question
slats_bigbear posted a topic in General Talk - Anything Goes!
I just picked up a cheap big bear Im trying to fix up needs alot of work so going thru it piece by piece. 1. The air box is completely stripped no breather hose, no hose to carb, and no filter or pieces inisde. Can anyone tell me if the typical K&N air filter comes with everything I need... I know it was a oiled element stock that slid onto a sleeve which I dont have so Im trying to find the quickest easiet way to get it back together. 2. I bought a new ignition and plugged it in and it started hissing and getting hot at the plug connection, I ripped it out quick and checked with my meter and it still seems to be ok. So can anyone tell me if there brown wire the wire thats hot with ignition on has continuity to ground.... I traced mine all the way back to getting ground thru the neutral and reverse switches thru the relays and all. The only other thing I can figure is it seems when i pulled the ignition plug off the 2 prongs looked like they are pushed in too far as if they wouldt insert/engage into the female plugs on the opposite plug and maybe its jumping/arcing and shorting out. I do have a service manual, wiring diagrams, and found OEM parts diagrams I just cant make sense of these couple things with out a little direction. Any ideas???
