About Me

My Garage

  1. I recently acquired a 2002 Polaris sportsman 700 with a bad speedo cluster. Does anybody have a parts bike or a speedo cluster that they’re willing to part with? Number for this part is 3280425. It also interchanges with part number 3280374 and number 3280453. Thank you in advance if anybody responds to this 😊

  5. Recently bought a Polaris 425 Xpedition. Main issue is that the quad randomly misfires sometimes. ONLY does it at idle. Everything sounds good. What should I look for? Haven't checked the plug, seems a bit hard to get to, not sure. Headlights flicker at idle as well, is this a sign of a weak stator? Help?

  10. Hey guys, looking at getting a clutch kit for my '04 700 Twin w/EBS... whats the best clutch kit nowadays? My dad said back in the day (like 20 years ago) he used EPI, but again that was a lot time ago and things change. I was gonna go with them but I read some people said it actually made it so you needed more throttle to get moving, which isn't what I'm wanting. Looking to have better low-mid torque and responsiveness and I wanna be able to start moving with less throttle; recently rode his '22 570 and I was amazed how little you have to touch the throttle to get moving. I know this won't be as good, but hoping it'll at least improve it. Thanks guys

  14. Hey everyone! New to the site and to atvs in general, but not new to wrenching lol. Trying to find a pdf download of a service manual for my 95 polaris 300 2x4 (w957530). Overall she runs pretty well, rebuilt the carb and replaced fuel/vacuum lines when i first got it. But definitely could use some love. Just wanting to slowly but surely restore and give some much needed maintenance that has been neglected throughout the years. Also curious if anyone knows what model this quad would be closest too? Explorer, trail boss/etc ?
  15. I have a 96 or 97 Polaris Magnum 425 6x6 that smokes heavily. I just replaced oil and let it run a while. The past owner over filled the resavoir and I believe it’s bad rings. Would anyone know where I can get a decent priced top end?
  16. I've already posted here once about this ATV. Lots of people suggested i check the cam and after a couple months i finally got around to attacking it. I got it all apart and got the cam/rockers out. I'm almost positive they need to be replaced, they're pretty scored up and don't look too hot. Just wanted some final opinions before i drop the money on it. I'll also take feedback on the new cam i've chosen. 17. I dont even know what year it is yet but are these worth restoring? was there a recall on these?
  18. I just recently purchased a Polaris xpress 300 and have had a number of problems.. I purchased it in none running condition and found that it needed a top end done.. after completing the top end and not being able to find the oil drain plug for the engine, any kind of dip stick to check the oil, or any where that I could fill the engine with oil I was already frustated enough.. and then when i finally did get it started and tried to put it in gear and it would just grind(no matter what gear) My frustation has become monumental.. any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.. i've already tried to idle the engine down to it nearly stauling out and then tried putting it in gear and it would just grind, or if i tried to force it it would just staul out completely.. for fear of tearing up gears I would like some input procede any further.. Thomas,
  19. Hey just picked up another scrambler 850 was told the tps was bad. This atv has been beet to hell. Wiring has been tinkered with the crankcase has been replaced recently and the motor rebuilt (can see horizontal scores thru spark plug hole where it’s just been honed out and rebuilt) my guess is it was ragged out till the motor blew a rod and rebuilt but the clown that did it couldn’t get it to run again and sold it. When I bought it it would pulse and smoke black at idle and die with throttle. New tps installed and it won’t run period. I went to celebrate it and I’m getting 5 volts on 2 of the 3 wires running to the tps. Is this normal and if so how should I celebrate it?
  20. Came here for help, If it’s in the wrong place I’ll move. I’ve got a 2000 model Polaris Magnum 500 that runs strong as can be for about 25 mins until warm, then sputters and loses power. Took it to a shop and they say it’s low compression and they will have to swap the entire engine. Seems a bit much and costs more than the entire bike. Was wondering if anyone has seen this and what the fix was. When I hear compression I think of gaskets, not an entire engine. Seems like if it was that bad it wouldn’t have power cold. I’m at a loss. Any help is appreciated greatly.
  21. Friday evening went riding, rode for a good hour or so everything was fine. I went to take a short ride to the restroom (less than 100 yds away) and all of the sudden everything flickered and then just died out. Accompanying the problem I noticed the killswitch completely locked up. Once daylight hit took the killswitch apart to find it had shorted out and melted the plastic inside. Has anyone else had anything similar to this and if so what did you do to fix the situation? I have a new killswitch on the way to replace the obvious problem but was wondering could there be a bigger issue at hand. We tested with a voltage meter to make sure everything was still getting power from the battery and as far as we could tell it was. Any advice/info would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
  22. So yesterday I picked up a 07 polaris sportsman 800efi stealth edition for 3k. Will lead a pic ltr. In good shape. Here's what's wrong with it: The rpm needle doesn't work just like my other sportsman... not too worried ab that. The motor doesn't sound like it's running quite right and doesn't feel like it has much more power than my 500. I'm thinking it needs a tune up and some fresh oil.. but also it feels like it's running rich. It's a little buggy when you goose the throttle and sometimes farts when you let off (like I little backfire out the exhuast). I'm gonna check timing and valave clearence on the motor first but thinking of putting a tuner on it? Anybody got a suggestion? Mainly looking for more power.
  23. I bought a 1993 polaris 350 4×4. 2 stroke. Don't know if its a sportsman or trail blazer or trail boss. Can someone enlighten me please
  24. Hi guys im new here and ive been doing alot of research on my polaris predator i was wondering if anyone on here has wired a different cdi up on there quad? Black goes to my kill switch and red is my 12v supply........then ive got yelloww/red , yellow / yellow that goes to my rectifier..........any input on this subject is greatly appreciated thank you all
  25. I recently got a 94 Polaris sportsman 400 4x4 from a family member. It just quit on him and has not run in 5 months. I put new fuel in, cleaned the carb, new plug. There's fuel getting to it and a good spark but it will not fire. It will turn over but will not start and I'm lost. Please help.
