  1. Hey everyone, I've been scratching my head over this for most of the day. I bought a couple of Bayou 220's, got them running (they've both been sitting), and started tweaking and fixing small things. One of them is mostly done, the other had an aftermarket carb on it and I've been trying to sort that out. Anyway, while adjusting the carb it died a few times, I restarted and moved on until it died and wouldn't restart. I figured maybe I'd flooded it or something - after further attempts I realized I had no spark. Since I have two identical machines I have many parts at my disposal. I've swapped the CDI, spark plug and coil with no luck. I have good resistance readings from the stator and pick up (135 and 110 respectively), I don't have a peak voltage meter but I measure around 53VAC on the stator when cranking. I have a 4 wire stator, not an alternator like the newer ones. Grounds look good, I've checked the kill switch by verifying that it and the ignition switch grounds the black/yellow wire to the CDI. I can turn the engine slowly and see the pickup short the meter as well, seems normal right? So far everything I've checked looks the same on both machines. I've got the service manual and wiring diagrams. Do these readings make any sense? I'm obviously missing something but I'm stumped. thanks!
  2. Hey all new member so I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place to post, but I'm having trouble with a 2000 polaris magnum 500 I just acquired. The quad ran when I got it but was having problems that sounded like the camshaft, and sure enough camshaft lobe was pretty much gone, so we replaced the camshaft and exhaust rockers and now the quad doesnt have spark. We had the quad running right before we tore the old camshaft out and now no spark. Anybody else ever have a problem similar? We've been checking for loose wires, checked grounds, and double checked timing but cant get it figured out so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

  4. Hello. I'm new so I hope I'm posting in the right place. My neighbor gave me a nice looking Bayou 220, but I can't get any fire to the plug. No lights, nothing. So far I've put in a brand new battery and relay. So those are good for sure. No neutral light comes on when the key is turned. Where should I start to try to figure out this electrical problem? I have a new coil to install, but common sense tells me it has to be something before that. I'm cheap so taking it to the dealer is out of the question. Does anyone know the process of elimination in a situation like this? I'd might add it LOOKS like the wires are all where they belong, but I can't say they are for sure. If the machine wasn't in such great shape, I wouldn't bother, but the grandkids should have a lot of fun on this. Thank you in advance for any help someone can offer.

I have a 91 big bear 350 4x4 with no spark what's making me puzzled is my coil is up to spec with ohms my stator and pick up coil is up to spec brand new and ohms reading checks out I got power from CDI coming out and power going in my coil wire from coil to CDI is getting good ohms reading plug is brand new but still not getting spark any suggestions or help would be appreciated I'm getting confused where do I go next please help me thanks

I traded my dirt bike for a 2000 arctic cat 500 semi automatic. when i went to go pick it up the guy said it didn't get spark, so i thought it was going to be something simple like a coil. well it wasn't. first thing i did was take all the plastics off to get easy asses to every thing. so i bought a brand new battery for it seeing if it got power, it didn't. the dash wouldn't light up neither would the lights, so then i tried to see if the starter worked it didn't so i jumped the solenoid and the starter started turning over the motor. so i bought a new starter solenoid, when i installed it the electric start still wouldn't work , so i bought a new kill switch and starter switch that goes on the handle bars, when i installed it, the electric start still wouldn't work. so then i went to see if i could get spark by pull starting it, i didn't get any spark, so i bought a new spark plug, and guess what, still no spark, so then i bought a new coil for it to see if that would fix it. so i installed the new coil and guess what no spark still and still no power to the dash. so to sum it up i'm not getting any power any where to the four wheeler. so i cleaned all the leads and plugs and still nothing. so then yesterday i took the wiring apart to see if their was any frayed wires, and no their wasn't. does any one have any ideas what this could be i'm up for anything. also if any one knows how to bypass all the wiring just to get it to start i open to that to, or if someone knows where i can get a wiring diagram.
  7. Trying to help a friend with his 2004 Yamaha warrior 350... It wasn’t getting a spark so we replaced the spark plug, cdi box and coil. Have tested the kill switch, checked fuse, everything is good there. Monday (8-20-18) we installed a new stator and got spark, ran it around my trails for about half hour then put it up. Today (8-25-18) we went to go riding and it wouldn’t start, again getting no spark... can’t wrap our heads around what happened when we got spark back then a few days later nothing... any help would be greatly appreciated
  8. I could use some help. I have a 2000 Yamaha bear tracker. The bike has no spark. I went through the entire harness, even removed it and toned out all wires for shorts etc. changed the coil, cdi, relays by the battery etc. I have had my eye on the stator coil but tested it for voltage and got voltage from it. The bike was jump started by a car and also welded on. I heard that was not good. My question I guess is will a bad stator still produce voltage but no spark ? thaks.
  9. ive recently purchased 2 97 polaris 500"s . ive had both running but decided to build one good 4 whrrler out of boyh. well idecided to put a brand new carbuerator on it and it never hit a lick hasnt hit a lick since . i checked the the throttle housing on the handle bars for that swith and checked it every way i know how but still no spark any ideas ? thanks
  10. my 2001 kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 has no spark. I replaces the spark plug and the ignition coil but still no spark. Can somebody tell me what to do to fix this.
  11. I have a 87 warrior that just lost spark. Put new stator, ignition coil, another CDI box and yet still no fire. It turns over just don't have fire. Checked all wiring and it seems to be ok. Shut off switch on handle bars work, all lights work just no spark?
  12. I have a 08 TGB Outback 425 had it running yesterday went back to start it later didn't start checked and no spark went over all wires and connections can't find problem the atv has all good fuses need help.
  13. My sons 2000 yamaha warrior will not start. It will turn over but not fire. There is no spark @ the Spark plug. I can pull it off and it runs great. I tested the stator and the ohms were very low on one of the plugs. should i test anything else?? and if so how??? (i will apoloize in advance...i may not know the proper names of some parts..I have never done anything like this....I'm just a mom trying to fix sons bike...if i can.
