Suzuki ltf 160 - Carb Issues

Hey guys .. i have a suzuki ltf-160 and it starts first go but when its running it wont take full throttle without backfiring or acting like its hitting the limiter.. my friend who is a mechanic reckons its a spark problem but needed more opinions... any help i greatly appreciated

check your valves, look for air leaks in the rubber manifold boot, clean carb if needed, and try a new plug ...

like OX said that is a good start.. and is usually the main causes ...

bought a brand new plug the other day ... only cleaned the carb earlier.. not too sure on how to get in at the valves.... could it be the valve timing

could be, how was the bike running before the carb clean? you really have to be thorough, like taking a twist tie (stripped) and running it through everything and blowing it out really well ...

i was driving it monday and parked it up.. started it friday morning and wouldnt take full throttle... cleaned tank and carb with airline and got a new plug...

if you have good spark, it may be fuel or timing problem. i might check the carb again and remove as much you can with jets and check the needle and seat at your float. the valves are located at the top of the head, probably oval shaped covers, front and back, intake and exhaust, 2 or 3 screws/bolts holding them on. be careful taking them off, try and save the rubber O rings ...

thanks mate.... but itll drive 100 percent in low revs so thats why im thinking its now petrol related

probably the carb or a vacuum line (hopefully),

something simple but a pain in the @ss in the meantime ...

i think you are ok with spark ... take the plug out and see if its strong against the block. valves could need adjusting ... God knows when they were done last probably ... they do loosen up over time ...

Im after checking vacuum line and rebuilt the card and still the same problem... any other ideas

i fully rebuilt the carb and got a new vacuum line and still the same

it still sounds like an air/fuel issue ... like its not getting enough ... im not shure ware or what adjustments are on that carb .. but they prolly need adjusted..

or there is something still in the carb .. or blocking the fuel line ..
