Well I got my Z400 tore down this afternoon. All plastics off, sub frame off and engine out. Engine is heading to Virginia for a full build by Miller Racing. Big bore kit and stroked (both +4), Webb 539 cams, +1 Kibble White valves, spring and retainers. Port and polish. FCR 39 carb. Should be a fun ride once I get her back. Looking at 4-5 weeks return time. Stoked to ride as she's been sitting for better than a year blown up.

Thanks, it's an 03. Wife wanted me to buy a new machine but...... I just couldn't justify the cost. After this part of the restore it will be time for suspension next winter.

Change of plans on the build. Doing everything local.... Parts are all ordered and should be here next week. Tightened the budget and decided to NOT stroke it, just BB kit, standard Hot Rodz crank, standard KW stainless valves, stage 1 cams and Yoshi RS-2 full exhaust.

I decided since wife was being so gracious I would return the favor and ordered a BB kit for her machine, that little old 300EX NEEDS more snort. Felt only right to start a light build on hers... More to come later.

Got some great prices on parts and am stoked about it.

Yoshimura RS-2 full exhaust $386 delivered from Biohazard Cycle.

Hot Rodz complete crank kit $399 from Magic Racing

Pro X timing chain $63 from Magic Racing.

Mega Flow SS impellor $53 from ATV Galaxy.

Nomura BB kit from a local guy BNIB $75.

Sweet. Almost March. You better hurry up.
Should be rolling mid March..... So have that "need to ride" itch. Weather generally sucks till April/May because of rain, but I welcome wet riding.

Has anyone had a suzuki 230 quad lock the engine up?  Its a well maintained bike, it locked up when my son was riding it. Pulled the plug, it has connected with the piston. I'm thinking the con rod let go.  I don't have a service manual.  Does the engine need to come out to check further?

I am new to this site. I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport I think. Is there a difference between quadsport and quadrunner?

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello all! I’m new to the 4 wheeler world, but not new to the mechanic world. I was a diesel mechanic for many years and last year got into jet skis. I just bought a 1987 Yamaha moto 4 350 and now learning the ins and outs of 2 stroke engines. Looking forward to learning all the things.
