  1. Hi yall,i started this tread mostly because i have used up my 9 lives and am still here! Im sure there are alot of quad nuts like myself (i have 7 of them) that have come close to meeting god in person,but cant seem to give up the fun.I am converting any and all of my present and future atvs into buggies. what i do is cut the frame just in front of the motor, extend the frame and put in a racing seat complete with a 4 point harness and a roll bar.The first 1 is going well with alot of challanges.Thats ok as im on loa with nothing else to do.my first project is a 1996 suzuki quad runner,have not got it to run yet as am having elect problems.That being said,id love to hear from those who have the same need to stay alive and still have fun at it. Good luck :biggrin::biggrin:

  2. Find the vin number and use on online decoder to figure out what it is. Usually stamped on a frame strut.

    Not trying to be rude but can you be a little more specific,such as a reliable site or link that would cut thru all the bs as i have the same problem only i have 7 of them to restore? thanx

  3. need help identifing this asian quad ! the # stamped on the motor is 167mm/86a00099 frame stamped # is fy250a20250700564 need model ,brand,cc's,etc. there has got to be a easier way to identify these quads,help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!:aargh:

    Pictured are the tubes for your fuel vacuum activators. You might not have the horn in the center depending on your fuel tank valve.

    In the back top, two vent hoses that route up underneath the shift lever panel.

    Fuel feed goes in lower left near the bowl.

    Tim : thanx alot ! i dont understand all the extra hoses? as they go nowhere ? venting maybe? jim

  5. Ok i bought a 1996 lt-f4wdx quadrunner and the carburator was not attached? I have a gaurantee that it runs. I know about the throttle and choke but know nothing of where the rest of the hoses fuel drain,vacuum and anything else i forgot about come and or go from or to. the model of carb is a mikuni bst31ss(single carb)! :confused: thanx jim

  6. :biggrin::biggrin:

    Ambitious project. You have to figure a way to lengthen throttle, rear brake, choke, and transmission shift cables. Then there is wiring. Fuel and breather tubes will be easy.

    Yes there are a few challanges/oportunities to this prototype,but its a real pleasure butchering the quad that should have killed me,enough of me! most of the alterations are easy as the high low range lever will go on the left/s of the frame next to the seat,the forward reverse lever will go to the right side of the seat and the gear selection lever/handle/knob will be right between the legs and in front of the steering shaft and to be honest "i love it when a plan comes together"

  7. Ok, i wasnt born yesterday just the day before :-) Can anyone tell me what rzr stands for? I know that atv is all terrain vehicle and if possible the difference between the 2?

  8. Ambitious i will agree!!! And i have all the time in the world to make this happen. The reason being is very simple! this animal just about kilt me,or as i have been told " I am not supposed to be alive" So that being said all my quads from now on will be -w- a roll cage and a seatbelt/harness (4-5 point). Also what really brought all this home was at the time i reached the emergency room entrance.The flight for life chopper just landed -w- 3 children that were also in an atv accident and not one of them survived.i may be 54 yrs old but i cant afford to loose my 9th life as the other 8 are gone also,love life and live it slow and happy :-) jim

  9. I know that for autos,trucks etc there are alot of parts that can be interchanged with in the same mfg such as gm,chevy. Is this also true for suzuki quad runner and other models? if this is true is there a book and or link that can make this possible? jim

  10. I do apolagize for me being so frustrated! Please accept my apoligy:-) as Im a seriously hurtin unit! I do appreciate all your help and want to thank you for the link to clymer manuals! But unfortunatly i already have the soft copy in hand:-( am still on the hunt for the "owners manuals" for these animals ! thanx again jim

  11. :aargh: Ok i have acquired 2 suzuki quadrunners (1990's) with the following frame #s and info. I want to know what i have, so that i can get parts when necessary. the frame #s are jsaaj45axt210097s and the other is jsaak42a312103699. the second 1 i know is a 280cc. w an oil cooler. This is all i know about them? I really do want to know everything there is to know about these animals! automatic trans or manual? if manual how does it work,# of gears and in what pattern? As these 2 atvs will be low profile single seat aggressive rock crawlers w roll bars and seat belts! This being said I just lost the 8th life in cat terms(i should be dead) and am still in the game and will beat the odds,slower and in more control x10! I really do nee all the good and bad specs,info on every aspect of these animals that can be found or is available to date:skeptic:
  12. I have a project in the works and need pro advice and thoughts! No amatures,please! I have acquired 2 1990's quadrunners and am converting 1 of them into a low profile rock crawlin,single seat buggy! Here is my plan,Im gonna cut the frame in half just in front of the cylinder head and extend the front approx 2' to accomidate a seat in front of the motor/business end of the animal and lengthening the shaft to the front diff. I was also considering wheel spacers to make it a little more stable from side to side. Upon considering my options i noticed that if i turn the wheels inside out,i would gain the same space as if i would have bought the spacers w/o the expense. I want all the pro advice relative to the spacers you can come up with ,good and bad!ps the only difference is that the air valves will be on the inside of the wheel. thanx jim:goofy::idea::idea::biggrin:

  13. thanx for the timely response:-) all i have are the frame #s on 2 different quadrunners and need owners manuals for both! the first is a 1996 frame #jsaaj45axt2100975 the second has a oil cooler,-w- i understand is a 280cc motor,frame # is jsaak42(this symbol is a mistake as it appears to be an upside down "y")312103699 !thanx and very curious to know what you find. thanxjim
