  1. Hello David im a fan of the Yamaha warrior also. Never owned one but there's a lot of them out there so they have to be tried and true. It's the perfect quad for any kind of riding and easy to work on. i fix motorcycles & quads in my spare time been working on small engines since 89. I would love too ride in W. Virginia must be great. Can you tell me what to look for if i buy a used Warrior?  Thanks Sparkplug

  2. Don't force into gear or neutral. Buy a couple cans of PB blaster nd start spraying everything that moves. Something is seized-up you have to trace it down. The trans will probably shift into neutral by rocking the bolt on engine sprocket or is it a shaft drive? Spray the sparkplug and let sit awhile, then remove ( carefully ) and spray in motor liberally. Spray every nut and bolt. Keep us posted.

  3. I was checking out eBay for a fuel pump and there isn't much but there's some switches that could cause it not to start ( safety switches ) like a thermal switch and a couple other switches. Easy fix i know but just no experience with diesel engines.  $1200 hundred bucks is the asking price, and it comes with a winch & plow so it's a 4- wheeler. they only made these for 3 years 99, 20 & 2001 Thanks for reading.

  4. Hey here's a topic you don't have everyday.  Wanting to buy a quad on Craigslist ( 1999 Polaris 500 Diesel ). Guy bought with intentions to get running well he has no time for it now. PO said it ran one day and not the next. Current owner said it looks to be ridden hard in past. Im wondering what issues it has about starting?  Most likely has a bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter.  ( i thought all diesel engines had fuel filters ) Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with these models? Thanks

  5. Well made it home for Thanksgiving, and  was able to get winch working for customer. Turned out to be solenoid or relay ( was a pain to install new relay ). When they just click 9 times out of 10 its the relay. The other quad is clicking when using starter.  Customer opted to replace himself. We'll see how that plays out.  keep you posted. The relay on this quad is on right side attached to outside of battery box. First must remove brake rear brake reservoir out of way. By the way it is a Warn winch standard with Arctic Cat. Very decent quads. Thanks for reading and replying.

  6. Thanks guys for input. Sounds like a solid idea to try and bypass relay. The make of the winch is Wener or something like that. The guy needs this to do snow removal. The other quad i mentioed ( GAS dripping on Starter) wont start unless by pull starting with other quad. Are these starters hard to remove? Are the hard to rebuil? Hopefully it just needs cleaning up on inside. Thanks

  7. Heyeveryon im workingon a Artic Cat ( 2005 ) 400 with a winch and it won't work. Its getting voltage ( 13 volts ) but nothing . Theres two terminals

one isn't getting power. Is there a relay maybe bad? Switch seems to be ok i will test with ohm meter for contenuity. I don't ownthese quads just working on them for a customer. The other quad has a leaky carb i fixed a couple yeas ago but now is leaking again, and leaking onto the starter and now the starter dosn't work.

These quads are he same models with one being a 06( leaky carb bad starter ). Any help or advise on how to procide ill be greatful. Thanks Sparkplug

I've owned 17 different wheeler's 2 and 4 stroke, with reverse and without. I've found out its much quicker to turn around without reverse by either kicking the rear end around with body movement and hitting gas, turning on a dime! The other way is to ride up on a slope then using gravity to roll back in the other direction. Taking the time and effort going through the reverse shifting procedure get really old, while these 2 strokes are way down the trail, waiting. lol The wheeler's with reverse can also do the same thing, without using their reverse, just takes practice.

My son just sold his raptor 660. Great machine and It can climb just about anything!

I found a few more pics I took this spring.

Hey how you find a machine that's 30 years old in such good shape?  Did you or someone restore it?

Rough night, tons of tasty beverages involved. Well you might have seen my thread on my new Zilla mud tires on my 700cc 4 wheeler. Well after 3 solid days of rain me and a buddy decided to go see what we could go get into. We left out about 2am and took off down some dirt roads near the house. We went into an empty grown up lot (est 10 acres) and went a path we have been down a dozen times before. I guess I miscalculated our path and we pummeled down past a 6ft tall concrete culvert with the 4 wheeler on top of us in a shallow pool of old rain water. I estimate it was about a 10 ft drop off straight down. We immediately flipped the 4 wheeler right side up and after choosing an appropriate path out, it started and took us home. Here's what she looked like the next day: Damage was front and rear racks, brake handle, and sticky throttle.

Remember where I said sticky throttle???? Well as I went to put it in the garage later that evening, I blipped the throttle while I wasn't hanging on, did a backflip off the rear rack and watched the 4 wheeler drive itself into the kids swingset. Damn it.

Well I've got a new swingset coming and spent a few hours repairing and cleaning the bike and she looks like it never happened.

Those racks saved a lot of damage.  You lucked out for not having any broken limbs. That's one tuff quad wow. You could say you drove off a cliff with a passenger.

Hello, I live in Taylor Mi. Enjoy northern atv trails, camping, camp fire cooking, the many diners. Kids sold their atv's and here I am sitting at home thinking about all the great places we've ridden since 86 around St Helens, Mio, West Branch, Rose city areas.  Looking for trail friend from ages 50-60's with atv and the means to help with sharing expenses and transportation. Or if you know of someone that might be interested within this age range and with atv, please pass on the invite. thank zilla

I go to Mio and Rose city to flyfish in Ausube river.  My daughter stays in Lincoln park i live in Pinckney, Mi. I don't get up north enough anymore my job takes place of it. Im a trucker and come home every month for a week. Lately I've been restoring motorcycles got a few projects im working on.
