[EDIT] sorry about misspelling "when" in the title!! Well, I should be getting a truck soon and will finally be able to do some nice trail riding so my first question is: What do you bring with you? I already have a nice winch and emergency tool kit, Id bring some water... but what else? I don't think Id need extra gas, it has a 2.5 gal tank and its only 250cc... also, I am going to buy some straps but What else? what are some good things to have on the trail? thanks!

Okay, so I gave up on painting the springs and just put them back on. For the first couple days the quad sat real high because the springs decompressed and it looked really cool lol and instead of painting the entire quad I just did the fender flares, came out great. I will post pics soon.

Yeah, I like to drive it like I stole it so a lift may not be the greatest thing I think Im just going to get some swamp lites and save money/effort... I might just paint my factory rims black... it would look a little better. Do the Swamp Lite XTRs come in any size smaller than 25?

I would like to get larger tires... but not very just a few inches. I have 22s now (stock) and wouldnt go larger than 25 but Id really like 23/24s with a more aggressive tread, or maybe the same size with more aggressive tread so I dont have to deal with the disadvantages of a larger tire... How much extra stress would a 2" lift really add?

Come to think of it, Ive seen a 2 inch lift for $60.. thats gotta be a lot cheaper than a set of shocks (maybe not used?)

Ive looked at a 2 inch lift. All it is is relocation type thing, longer brackets that reuse the stock socks. I was thinking longer shocks (1-2") would do the same thing

ok ok ok... forget the words "smooth ride" pretend I never even mentioned it. I want longer shocks for higher ride height.... LIFT I want shocks that will mount on my recon that are longer

How long are Rancher shocks? I want to get longer shocks than I have now (13.5" front, 15.5" rear)

The recon shocks are some of the least smooth already, how do 250ex ones ride? If anything I would want shocks that are an inch or two longer

I recently took the shocks (3) off of my Honda Recon to paint the springs. But Ive been thinking of getting different shocks, I want to buy take-offs (from another quad) that are longer or smoother shocks.... Im thinking that any shock would mount, right? the recons shocks are about 13.5" in the front and 15.5" in the rear... Where can I find the lengths of different shocks? which ones are smoothest? any recomendations?

Ill see if i can find any ratchet straps....

yeah.. its starting to get scary. I might just take them to a dealership and have them remove the springs...

Didnt think about that...... by the way, the zip-tie idea failed horribly!

My biggest trouble is compressing the springs, I like the zip-tie idea, Ill have to try that. And I am using regular spray paint, others have used it on springs just fine and if it chips it is cheap to touch up.

That sounds more up my alley... how do you do that?
