  1. I hope so.... wheeeere are yooooou LOL
  2. How do I remove the springs from the shocks??? just took them off and cant figure out how to get the springs off
  3. Oh, I was under the impression that you bought the hardware then drilled it out yourself and threw it on...
  4. Just a side note, hollowing out the stainless steel hardware is the most purpose-defeating thing you could do... and a waste of time, effort and money. If you got stainless steel hardware because its stronger, you just made it weaker thatn factory hardware by drilling it. If you bought stainless steel so it wont rust, it will because you drilled it. The only reason stainless steel doesnt rust is because it has a zinc coating and by drilling youve just grinded that coating away and exposed raw steel, anything freshly drilled is extremely prone to rusting
  5. I havent contacted the seller... by the time Im ready to buy this one may be long gone. I was just asking about reliability in general. I know the obvious things that could be wrong with buying used and I know how to/have experience with buying used... I was asking more generally if they have any problems that are very common/known to happen.. things that the brand is prone to
  6. Right now it seems that a polaris sportsman 500 4x4 is my best bet (or something like that) Hows the quality/reliability on those?
  7. Thats what Im thinking about my recon.... but Im excessive kinda guy!
  8. I simply do not have the money to buy brand new... hopefully I can find a dealer that'll do test drives
  9. Im not actually a big fan of the rancher, but if I can find a nice enough one for the right price..... I had a Honda bike and now a Recon, I kind of want to break away from Hondas, Ive heard the bigger Hondas are lower, less powerful, and are lacking in the suspension and drive systems department than other brands. The kind of riding I do is trail riding, pretty much an even mix of most tings... general dirt riding, I really like water and I like to play in the mud a little Basically woods trail riding. Also, I want something that has a lot of power and will haul AS*. Also, I will use it to plow some snow in the winter.
  10. anything from 350 (I might consider a 4x4 rancher) to a 500, Im up to even more! Nothing older than mid 90's And nothing considered underpowered, low, unreliable or rough condition....
  11. I want a bigger one with 4 wheel drive...
  12. Well, I just took out my ATV and cleaned off the road salt, then I noticed a little rust forming on the A-arms so I hit them with some primer.... I really like the look of the A-arms being a different color, So I think Im going to go ahead with my project of painting the body and racks with bedliner and painting the A-arms and springs lime green.... So Im going to hold on to my Recon for a few months then look into getting a bigger one, but I still need advice now so I can start looking and narrowing down options!
  13. I think the newer style sportsman would have the HO (2001+) but thats just a guess how bad is the earlier 500?
  14. I wasnt saying it weighed 20 lbs, It probably weighs a 1/2 lb max
  15. What is the H O ? was it available in the '98 Im looking at?
  16. Id imagine it wouldnt be more than a 1/2 pound or maybe a pound (If it has that rubberized stuff) it would have to be like 20lbs to make a difference and theres no way it weighs that much
  17. I figure I can squeeze anywhere from $15-1700 from my Recon plus a little savings, so... around $1800 +/-
  18. I'm keeping the plow for whatever I get next, just got it two weeks ago... and I'm never giving it up!
  19. do you think ATV sales are a seasonal ting? do you think more people would look come spring?
  20. I wanna jump right on it but I should probably sell mine first and maybe give it more than 30 minutes of thought LOL
  21. WOWI found a couple more pics... the older Polaris' are so much better looking than newer one, not as big a chuck of plastic on the front. Plus that thing is an awesome price, I think I found what I am looking for Anyone know anything about Polaris'??
  22. Yeah I bought it for $1450 but the guy was desperate to sell it, e lost his job... pretty sad (and no it wasn't a scam because I didn't get ripped off) I just checked and found this.... Im really liking it, does anyone know where I can get more pics of this year? 1998 POLARIS SPORTSMAN {4X4} REVERSE-AUTOMATIC <<<<LINK
