  1. Welcome to the site. I am new to working on these myself but for what it’s worth I found a lot of help on youtube. I have a 2001 sportsman 500. Needed a lot of stuff but it runs really well now.
  2. I do to.  Rode motorcycles for years and wrenched on them.  Gave that up, too many soccer moms not paying attention to what was around them.  Decided not to become a statistic and gave up motorcycle riding.  Still miss it though.  Got into 4 wheeling strictly for hunting but will probably take advantage of the trails available in PA next year.

i decided against a street bike for the same reason

  3. I imagine that keeping 4 of these machines maintained and running accounts fir a lot of your free time. Fun though, isn’t it.
  4. I bought a used sportsman that was used on a Christmas tree farm. I wound up having to take just about the whole thing apart. Seemed like every time I took a part off I found 2 more that needed replacing. If you are mechanically inclined at all I found a lot of helpful information on youtube. I am 72 and it took me awhile but it is finished and worked well when we went hunting this year. Good luck to you.
  5. Don’t have a lot of experience fixing quads in general. I have an 01 Sportsman that I just finished putting back together. Bought a repair manual and watched a lot of youtube posts and got it done. Bought most of my parts on Ebay or facebook marketplace. Was a time consuming PITA project but I just had it up north deer hunting aand it worked great. Good luck to you.
  6. Hi, bought a 2001 sportsman 500 but it has turned into a much bigger project than anticipated. Fortunately I think I am finally on the down hill side.  Need to finish changing some of the fluids and I think I will be done.  Hope your project is going well.

  8. I am located near Lebanon Pennsylvania, USA. Will be using my Sportsman mostly for hunting and occasional trail riding. Went through Sault Ste. Marie several years ago on my motorcycle. I have a friend who lives in Houghton Mi (on the other side of the UP.). And drove up for a visit. Beautiful country where you live.
  9. Yep, new to the site and quads in general. Have an 01 polaris 500 that I am working on. Feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this project, but I keep finding things which were neglected and in my opinion should be taken care of. Rather do it now then during hunting season.
  10. Yes, new to the site. Live in eastern PA near Reading.
  11. I am new to the sight. Just purchased a 2000 Polaris sportsman 500 HO. Needs a little TLC and am hoping to get some tips from some more seasoned members. Live in eastern PA and plan to use it for hunting and recreation. Hope everyone is enjoying the memorial day weekend.
  12. New to the forum so I intend to do a lot of reading b4 I start spouting off. :)  Just purchased a 2000 Polaris 500 sportsman HO to use for hunting.  Was wondering if there are any good after market suppliers for body parts?   Seems like what I have been able to find so far are kind of pricey.  Thanks in advance for the help.
