the 700xx woulb prolly be best for ware he rides and the rerrain... but i say my KFX Vforce 700 will beat both of them on a 1/4 mile drag on dirt sand or pavement ....
-
i was wondering if there are any other members near me ... and ware do you ride ...

they are a pain to take off ...lol.. i have dont this on several of the kawasaki V twin's ... its usually a dirty /clogged carb... get a can of chemtool carb cleaner and take them off and clean them out ... i would also change the filter while you are doing this ... i have found some filters start comming apart on the inside and let stuff get into the carbs and clog them on the V's i have 1 and most of my friends do also .. im the mechanic for our riding group and i get to do most of the work on all 9 of the V's in our riding group ... we also have several parts V's ...

check with Motorcycle Parts & Gear – Dirt Bike/MX, ATV, Street Bike & Motorcycle Accessories | MotoSport im not shure if they will ship to you there but you can try it ... they sell factory parts for most makes of quads

according to polaris service manual if the speed sensor is bad then it wont record millage any more and my odometer still works ...? but thats about all it says about the speedo in there ... its driving me nutz ...lol...and a new speedo is about $230.00 ... that's the cheapest i have found ...
-
it is all electronic ... the speedo is a dial but is fly by wire... no cable ....
-
MY speedo quit working the other day ... the digital stuff still works just not the speedo ? any info on this would be nice ... this machine is new to me and i have no idea whats going on ... this machine is still new and only has a little over 100 hours on it and about 650 miles ... thanks ...

i have had several of the polaris quads and have had problems with them ... you should check to see if the belt is to tight and also if it isint then check to see if the clutch is grabbing and or draging ... if the rear pully on the belt system is turning while in idle then it will grind when trying to put it in gear ...

i have an 04 700 and it requires me to choke it almost every time i start it the 1st time .. i always slowly turn the choke off as it starts to load up ... it is the nature of the 04 an 05 to be choked when starting cold ... it can be 80 + out and it will have to be choked the first start of the day . i changed the air filter and put a uni in it and it has been easyer to start ..you should run a high octain fuel in it also .. as that will make it easyer to start ... and it will run better and cooler ...

well what about a snowmobile if i want to use it as my pic ? its an atv just for the winter months ....

i also have the 07 motor and my cam is an 98 xr400 ... if you really want your 400 to come alive buy a complete xr400 motor and put the internals from it in your ex block and use the xr side cases and have kick start ... it will rev alot faster and be nasty ... but it dosent have the rotating weight of the ex motor and will stall alot easyer ... but it will keep up with any stock 450R hondas and is leagal in most all compitions for the 400 class ...
-
use a stock XR 400 dirt bike cam ... they will give you alot more grunt through the whole rpm range .. and they are fairly cheap on ebay
-
a stage 1 or stage 2 cam will not hurt ... but if you go with any thing larger then it will ! i run an XR 400 cam in 1 of mine and it was a big difference .. the dirt bike cam is a little more than a stage 1 cam for the 400ex .. but is a little less than a stage 2 ... its kind of in the middle ... and it is a stock honda cam and is legal to run in any stock 400 class ... i run a few hill climbs that the motor must remain stock... so its legal but its kind of not ...lol... if ya want to know any more about the 400ex send me a message ... i own 2 of the 400 ex's and have 9 motors that i use for different races and or classes that i run...

hey thanks ... bot ... it was a close race between us ...lol.. ... i dont know if im gonna have a video to enter ... so good luck if ya enter .. thanks ... chris

the cam gear has 3 marks on it .. the 2 lines on it should be flat/even with the top of the head .. and the dot mark should be pointing up in the center ... some of the motors will not line up exactly with the flat plain of the head .. and it will be ok if its off just a little .. i have sever of the 400ex motors and have built over a dozen .. if you need any more info .. just ask .. thanks ..
-
ok .. no prob... if you have any more questions about the 400ex just ask...

the only real issue i have had with any of mine is the oil ring... and the rear axle bearings ... but thats pretty much it as far as running and riding ...

i own a bunch of atv's .. i never have bought a can-am yet but have looked at them ... they are alot priceyer than most others ... i do have a polaris x2 and i really like it ... we ride it on almost every weekend and i use it for working my property several times a week.. its fuel injected and that is great in the winter ... if i was going to buy another touring or 2 up style quad i would prolly buy the arctic cat ... good luck with what ever you get ...
