some quads are very heavy ... my polaris 500X2 weighs 798 lbs dry ...
-
i have worked on alot of the off brand atv's and have not found any plastic gears yet ... some of them are very hard to get parts for ... i have used parts from the honda dealer on some off brands cause they are honda coppies ... but thats not on all of them
-
its been in the 40's to low 50's here lately with lows at nite in the mid to upper 30's ... has been raining alot and most of the areas we ride are under water or will be under water from the excesive rain here ... some of the trails we ride are under as much as 15 feet of water ..
-
sounds like some good choices ... im hoping to get some of thoes gift cards this month ..
-
you can send some of that snow my way ... im sick of all the rain we have been getting here ... i would enjoy some snow ....
-
i have seen them and they go for good money on ebay .. my father inlaw has 1 and he wont sell it ... i have worked on it 4 him and its a kool machine ....
-
ok .. im not shure about the gears going both ways thing .. but if you get a chance to look at a schematic or a manual... then it might help
-
well thats fun in the snow ... but we ride mostly low lands around here and getting stuck is almost an every day /ride thing here ... a wench is a must ... good luck with it ....
-
i have the old cloth/canvas style camo kit ... its still new .. i only used it 1 or 2 times for hiding the quad in the woods while hunting .... but that looks alot better ....
-
the kawasaki 360 praitie is a good quad also and has 4x4 and is a managable size you can get them used at a fair price also ... the stearins is pretty lite and they will keep up with most other utility quads in the woods trails .. they have plunty of power with the cvt belt drive system ...
-
the old air cooled 250r is not the 1 that every 1 is looking for ... if its the watered cooled version 1985 and 1986 then its a good 1 you could get it and sell it on ebay with no problems ... if it is the water cooled 250r and is in real good condition it will sell for about 1500 and some times more
-
i have a 2000 and it dosent have any window in it ... i just make shure that i can touch the oil with the tip of my finger in the hole about half an inch in the hole ... its crazy that some have the window ans some dont ... mine is a good lod quad and starts easyer than my newer kawasaki Vtwin powered quads
-
there is a dealer in indianapolis that sell them ...dont know the name but you can google and see if you can find it ...
-
check and make shure its not sucking any air between the carb and cylinder(motor) have had this problem on several quads
-
nice quad ... ive been looking at the renegade 800 and wishing for 1 ... have you had it stuck yet ? i have a polaris 500X2 and its really heavy and gets stuck easyer than my bruteforce ?
-
ok... i have worked on several kows and have had to replace the 1 way gear (starter clutch) on a few ... what was it doing b4 you put the starter on ?
-
polaris makes a sportsman 500 that has a small dump bed on the rear that is handy for all tinds of things they also have fuen injection on alot of there quads now and that makes for easy operation in cold weather ..
-
look into motorcycle mechanics instute ... or you can buy or borrow some atv manuals and read up on them ... i like to read durring the real cold part of the year and when it pouring rain ...i have a small shop and do alot of work on quads and motorcycles ... i also buy non running quads and repair them for resale and part some out on ebay .. you can learn alot from doing thoes things
-
i know several racing teams and there mechanics ... they use rotella 15w40 in the racing quads ... the even pot the rotella in the sopnsers oil bottles and use it like they are useing the sponsers oil... it is safe for wet clutches and works great in all 4 stroke motors ... it might be a little heavy for really cold weather but it great and costs about 13 buks a gallon here in indiana
-
if you have at least 5gallons or close to it in your tank it should be ok for that long ... i have snowmobiles and they have tanks that hold 10 to 12 gallons ... they seem to be fine for close to 9 months with out any problems ... the more gas you have the longer it will last b4 going bad.. i have put stabil in the snowmobiles b4 and have not ... but i run them about 15 to 20 min. a month even in the summer to make shure the small amount of gas in the carbs dosent go bad ..
-
thats kool i have seen thoes ay walmart but dident even think of useing it for that ... will get several and put in my shop for the guys i ride with and to sell ...
-
i keep an empty coke bottle to get water to put in the radiator if i ever have a over heating problem ... along with most of the other items mentioned ...
-
check the connection on the wireing .... also make sjure you dont have the battery wire crossed ...
-
used quad prices have gone up some ... but i think it because of people wanting to get as much for them as they can ... they price them higher so that they have a little room to negotiate ... there for it seems they are higher prices go up slightly near christmas and will fall after ... then go back up around tax time .. then fall in early summer the go back up when it really nice then fall again in the fall ... i buy and sell atv's alot and know the yo yo of prices ...
