  1. Since the OEM carbs are difficult to come by without paying an arm and a leg, I've had good results using te Shindy carburetor rebuild kits on the cheap Chinese carburetors you can get on Amazon. I'll typically replace all the jets then set the float height to OEM and then fie tune from there. Sometimes the needles need the position changed depending on which model you get.
  2. Wireless control is a nice feature but not required. I like having both on my winches just in case the wireless control battery is dead or you lose the control altogether. The wireless does enable you to move to a more optimum location at times which can help with safety. As far as the synthetic ropes go, they're generally taken as superior. They're lighter, just as or stronger, won't rust or fray. Make sure you use the proper fairlead for synthetic rope.
  3. Some cheap ones on Amazon I've had a good experience with them on all of my machines. Just seach for 12v Yamaha or ATV bulbs they should come up. Like $10 or so. Just make sure your ATV light switch is pulling from the battery and not the stator directly.
  4. Interested to know what steps you took to remove the rust and refinish the metal. Any rust removal chemical products or just careful sanding? I take it the metal wasn't too pitted?
  5. Used to run a 2500 lb badlands winch on my old 2x4 timberwolf. Worked well. Plan to add another to my 4x4 timberwolf.
  6. LED bulbs. $10 upgrade to nearly double your light output. Adding an LED light bar after is icing on the cake. A winch would be a close 2nd
  7. I prefer to use yamalube in my older Yamaha ATVs.
  8. Are you just trying to keep water off or something more? I've used the Kolpin covers and they've done well to keep sun and most water out.
  9. New here but not New to ATVs. Currently own a '94 Yamaha Timberwof 4x4, 94 Yamaha Breeze and a 2000 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4. I've previously owned other Timberwolves, Kodiak 400s, Big Bear 350s, and a Grizzly 660. Hoping to contribute and learn here where I can!
  10. Try ebay for oem carbs. Be wary of the condition and cost. If you don't have a functioning oem carb you may be ok with a Caltric or even Nibbi carb. I've had good success buying the caltric carbs and replacing the jets with a Shindy rebuild kit. As far as the rear hitch, I purchased a $20 extension from Amazon and use it on both my Timberwolf and Kodiak.
