  1. There is a station here in Arkansas that has 87 octane, non alcohol gas. But other gas stations have 91 or 92 octane non alcohol "premium", Whatever that means. I always use no alcohol gas, regardless of octane, in all my mowers, atv, motorcycle, generator, etc.
  2. The pump does run for a few seconds every time the key is turned on. In this case I just discussed, the pump ran it's usual time until fully pressurized when they key was turned on. Then depressed the start button and the engine turned over a few times, started then stopped and no hum from the fuel pump so I'm assuming sufficient pressure remaining in the system? Then turned the key off then back on and the fuel pump ran again for normal time so I'm assuming the relay is ok.
  3. Well......still working with the long crank issue. The other day after not running the Cforce for a few days, it exhibited the same issue by taking a few seconds of continuous cranking and did start/run for maybe two seconds but died almost as quick. With the key still on I did not hear the fuel pump run, so turned the key off then immediately back on and pressed the start button then the engine fired and ran normally. This old girl sure likes the attention. Hmmm, maybe a long crank is ok in some instances?
  4. I really don't think it does as this system is fuel injected, for which I presume the pressurized fuel line feeds directly to the fuel injector. I see your point that a fuel bowl will go dry over time, from evaporation or leakage then take longer to refill?
  5. Yes, your right, I will be more diligent with attention to equipment maintenance.
  6. Yes, I think your onto something that needs my followup
  7. Maybe your right, I was grunting pretty good to get them into and out of the trailer but was manageable.
  8. Thought you'd get aroused over the well endowed comment! But the honda foreman is a great machine and worth those big dollars.
  9. Jen, I have no idea of the wt limit or actual wt on that hitch. I think there was quite a bit of weight as that wood was still green and heavy. I ran three loads about a quarter mile down the road where a neighbor had cleared out a bunch of trees for construction building. Now will start splitting the logs, removing bark and stacking for drying to burn maybe ,3-4 yrs out.
  10. No issues after restarting, runs well. Even after a couple days it starts/runs ok. The long start issue comes on only after extended sitting over two weeks. Of course I always keep a battery maintainer connected.
  11. It is fuel injected so not sure how automatic choke action works. Incidentally the atv starts fine after sitting for a day or two in freezing yeps, but the long crank issue happens when not being started for maybe a month. Maybe should buy a Honda like Jen's?
  12. I did replace the cforce fuel pump, a very easy 20 min job. This replacement pump had a decided 'howl' but still ran fine with adequate fuel pressure, no difference in startability or run. Soooo, put original pump back in and returned the new pump for refund. Anyway, I'm really impressed with the power and utility these ATVs bring. Been chainsawing & hauling wood in to spilt for winter wood pile stock. Not that I'm sold on the Chinese cforce, but was handy to buy from neighbor a while back, very reliable. However, if I were so well endowed as JEN then I would have bought a Honda Foreman!
  13. I just backed down the weights to 12 grams because I noted a decided hard to shift occurrence when trying to reverse shift on hill. I gathered that I had achieved a desirable 1800-2000 rpm engagement with the 18 gram wts but obviously too close to idle rpm with some drag on shift at times. Now engagement rpm is about 2200 and smooth gear shifting so OK.
  14. Maybe someone has the answer to correct a long cranking but did start after maybe 10 seconds? Temp was mid 70's, with ATV not run for maybe a month but on battery maintainer with full bat charge noted. The atv started, but then died a couple times after repeated attempts. But when run awhile everything was ok. Although when starting now I do hear the fuel pump humming but seems to take a few ,"long" seconds before full prime pressure. Is this typical of a failing fuel pump? I've priced a replacement fuel pump on eBay for less than $40 so am tempted to simply replace it for good PM. Just had all covers off so looks really easy to replace. Any ideas?
  15. I see a real value in that type of mower for tough brush and saplings. I have a few acres in Arkansas along the Ouatchita river within which I have been working to create atv trails. So far I have used a JD garden tractor to simply run thru this heavy growth, but those 1" saplings sure are hard on the blades and spindles. Of course the chain saw and DeWalt reciprotating saw have worked too, but I sure hate looking for snakes, spiders, ticks and chiggers (which invariably get me. I've seen some brush hog attachments for the atv but they are spendy.
  16. Jenn, that equipment you pulled out looks really interesting. What is it and what is it used for? I see you are getting really good use out of your hi tech Honda.
  17. Ok, I have now optimized the CVT clutch engagement and feel on the Force 400 ATV. I guess this is my week for ATV maintenance, as I had previously described actions for muffler heat mitigation. My fix was to obtain a part # CVT5 (spring force 200/600) from EPI Performance out of Baxter, MN. I had personally visited them and described what I was looking for and he provided me this spring. I wish I had gotten his name and card to personally thank him. KUDOs for EPI, easy to talk with. This work is an easy install; remove CVT cover, impact/ remove (CW direction) the 18mm long bolt, the remove (CW direction) the 30 mm bolt. Pull off the clutch and simply replace the spring. While apart, replace wts to your comfort level. Re-impact all back together ( CCW direction). I did try different wt sets 12g, 14g, but 18 gram wts proved the best for my liking. I now have smooth engagement at about 1900 rpm and resultant smooth travel at lower rpm on the road. I will never buy anything from RNG again as they were useless to want to help me or provide any information. Their position appeared to be wanting to sell me their "foo foo" parts without any detail. Aren't there other Force riders out there with similar wants and needs?
  18. Ok, I have now resolved the muffler heat issue. Hooray! As I stated earlier, my fix as completed was to clean the underside of the rt rear plastic fender and precisely cut and place adhesive backed thermal fiberglass/reflective material in place. Then also formed/curved ( much like a stove pipe) and mounted an aluminum plate (previous sign from my Rocky Shoals Resort operation days) over the muffler to shield and channel the heat backwards. I was able to use the existing muffler mounting points to secure the shield. If I was a sheet metal expert I'm sure the job would have been easier. It all works excellent. I still cannot understand why more Cforce ATV owners have also not spoken up about heat issues.
  19. Wow, I didn't realize the receiver hitch was a bolt on option. My old foreman has the mount tongue welded onto the axle so no chance of conversion without reweld. Good deal!
  20. I installed a Kimpex Outback rear trunk on my Polaris and attached with 4 cargo expanding lock bolts onto the rear deck for easy removal. This trunk was a bit spendy at $300 but seems very sturdy and comfortable for passengers. I see quite a few types of this rear box on Amazon or Ebay so I'm sure there are cheaper versions and attachable with Honda's accessory anchors. I like the built-in armrests and handles for the passenger. The removable seat is super soft. This box would just as easily mount to my old Honda Foreman 450 electric shift. I have an old soft expandable type of rear bag and seat, but never used it, as it appears more trouble than worth the energy as to use it effectively it would have to be fully packed to expand. You have a wonderful ATV. I am always amazed at the durability of my old Foreman
  21. Good use of winch as front anchor, I do the same with some tension. Your new Honda is really a robust machine. I'm very impressed with the reliability of Honda ATV's.
  22. Yes, but I never got into trail bikes / riding.....too dangerous! I prefer touring motorcycles. I mostly ride a newer Harley Road King, but also a Harley Road Glide depending on my location. For more quiet riding I ride a BMW K1600 which is rated at 160 hp
  23. What motorcycles do you ride?
  24. Yes, the angles do improve tongue stability. I used 1" x 2" steel tubing, not sure of the gauge. I'm sure there are professional welders in our group who would offer advice. the winch was an inexpensive $79 Harbor Freight but I really like the wired/wireless feature.
  25. Yes I agree with your concept of triangular braced tongue, as I welded onto my 5 x 8 light duty homemade trailer as shown. I also added a light duty battery operated winch to load any stubborn materials. (Remove spare tire to access the cable opening,). The winch has wireless control for actually sitting on the atv or motorcycle while it is being winched into the trailer. As with your trailer this is the perfect size for atv moving as well as general purpose. I have another 6 x 12 single axle 3500 lb open top trailer that I use for heavier equipment.
