  1. I could roost with all 4 tires & I have had my slow quad up around 60mph Thats on super swamper tires which are bias-ply had to back out of it. It starts to get a little unstable. The only sport quad I have rode I loved it was my cousins Suzuki 230 quadracer in the 1980's two stroke & a clutch. I would love to have a sport quad to go with my utility quad. I don't think I would give up my utility for a sport. I can still pop wheelies & get air go thru mud and trials pull a utility tralier loaded with fire wood and I have towed my neighbors car & a truck not at the same time just the same day.

  2. I bet that sport quad you ride quadnut would get stuck time & time again if you tried to go where our 4WD quads are able to go and then me Amjboy could just ride by you and laugh as you set stuck in the mud with your fast quad. Ha Ha ! I'm to young for a slow quad so thats why I have a 650 4wd quad.

  3. I would go with a used utility quad 4wd. A 250 is more of a trial riding quad and lite work use. Go with a brand name Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki. 400cc and up if you can With my Kawasaki prairie 650 it's automatic with Hi, Lo & rev. 4 or 2 wd and a diff loc lever to lock the front diff if needed. My friend has a utility 250cc Honda ricon it's 2wd and it,s ok for just riding but it struggles climbing hills and he weighs about 180 to 190 I don't see it being able to plow snow. 4wd is a big plus for what you need one for I wouldn't wast the time looking at 2 wheel drive quads. If you shop around you can find some pretty good deals. Just this past weekend I rode with a guy he had a nice Honda 4oocc 2wd he made it about a 1/4 way up a hill and lost traction with the ground being damp and alot of leaves It wasn't from the motor size but being 2 wheel drive only. My quad and my other friends old 600 grizzley in 4wd could go slow up the same hill & mine could also go up it in 2wd as well may be due to it's weight but the more weight the more power you need to move it. I have around 2,300.00 in my quad. But if your looking in a 3 to 5,ooo range you should be able to find a 4wd utility quad with low hours or miles on it. Mine has over 3,ooo miles and had been damaged in the frontend I bought it for 1,600 not knowing about the frontend frame damage so thats how I'm up to 2,300 I replaced the frame.

  4. Never built a quad motor before. Whats bad is for what I was told it would cost to build the v-twin 650 you can buy another quad cheaper. I don't see the prairie going up in value. Just like my friend he's dumped 10,000 in a motor so far for his truck which might sell for 3 to 4,000 on a good day. So I would not want to put more in a motor than the quad would be worth I have between 2,200 to 2,300.00 in it now. I gave 1,600 for it a year ago and 300. for the nonrunning 1 for the frame which was a complete quad minus wiring & plastic & a few odds & ends. I had bought the ITP wheels that was on it for 25.00 and never put them on my old quad. So thats 325.00. Thats how I knew about the frame when I needed it.

  5. Your 100% right Just like after getting it all togather and having the diff problem I got the diff out taken apart put back togather and back in and running in a few hours. If I had the funds I would love to build the motor that I pulled out of the frame I'm useing now. The stock motor I'm running now has plenty of power and I don't need more but being a gearhead I would love to punch out the extra motor with a big bore kit and performance cams. I never left the motors stock in my cars when I was younger I always loved tinkering with them and I worked at a high performance parts warehouse. I don't think I will out grow up.

  6. I had to do it all myself till it was time to put the motor in the newly painted frame and my wife help me guide it in. I didn't keep up with the hours I worked on it or days. I know it was 3 to 4 hours once a week then the last few days from around 9am till 1 or 2 am short nap and back at it. Any pic or vid with the tinted headlights is the finished quad for now. It does feel good to look at it now and say I did that and it works. It would be nice to be able to buy a new quad but at the same time it feels just as good to be able to keep an old quad going.

  7. The only tire I can comment on is what is on my quad it's all I have had so far Interco super swamper vampires they have held up great no flats. I will say this they are not good at all at high speeds on hard surfaces and if your going slow they make the handlebars wiggle in your hands. Their great when you need traction on a trail ride. I want to get a set of radial tires from what I've read the prairies handle better with radial tires.

  8. I know the comment contest is going on and it gets people more active in commenting on our photos. I want to say thank you to the people that have left comments on my pics And to the friends I have made on here who comment regardless if their is a contest or not. I don't think theirs a better quad fourm out there. I have enjoyed posting the pics and the feedback I've got and encourgment to get my quad togather & back on the trai. So here it is THANK YOU!!!!!

  9. As well I have a plug kit & a small air compressor from wal-mart The comressor is very small and plugs into the 12v accessory plug on my prairie and works great. Fits in the storage box under the seat Then you always have air when needed which means you can adjust the pressure when needed.

  10. Thanks HF has a store about 20 mins. away and I went in too look around and got a sales paper with the add for the winch. I can get a smittybuilt 2000lbs. for around 80.00 dollars. I could have used one about 1 time in past 10 months. But since I ride alone it wouldn't hurt to have one.

  11. Does anyone know anything about badland winches these are sold through Harbor Freight? I would not expect too much I dont think. The deal is a 5000 lb atv winch reg.price 219.99 but for a 3 day sale it's 139.99 I read somewhere it's the same as the mile marker brand.

  12. First Thanks QC for doing these contest. I replaced my stock air filter with a No Toil this past wed. & got my maintance kit for it too. I have 1 more product on the way and 2 gift cards left to use. Tire sealer is just wanting to be needed I don't want a flat but if I get one I'm ready for it. I'm leaning towards trackside hand guards unless I can use 1 gc I have left towards a Gopro. I am sure my wife will let me get the hand guards. My QC sticker is on my helment.

  13. Yes you have 2 carbs the fuel line comming from your off/on fuel cock should have a filter in the line before it goes to a T fitting & splits off to each carb. The carbs could need cleaned, You will be better off doing a search on adjusting the carbs you have fuel / air mixture screws that is adjustable the idle is just one knob that changes both carbs at the same time. Then their is the carb sync adjustment. In order to sync the carbs you need a carb sync tool. It gets the carbs matched up you can do a internet search on how to make a sync tool & on the steps to sync the carbs. I would read about it first to make sure it's something you could do. Syncing the carbs would be the last thing on a check list. You have to remove some of the plastics to be able to get to the carbs where you can see everything but check all the fuel lines , check the clamps that hold the carbs in the intake boots, air/fuel mixture screws I think it's around 2 full turns out from fully closed if you close these off to check them you just turn them till they stop you don't tighten them down or you will damage them. After this stuff is checked if it all seems to be good I would clean the carbs & reinstall them & check if their in sync. I hope this helps.
