2002 Prairie 650 Help ?

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a 2002 prairie second hand for 2000$ .. just for the record it has 28 inch zillas on it .. anyway . whenever i put it in any gear , it takes a second for it to engage ... and when it does it clunks into gear ... is that common for that quad for that year ? or is it cause the previous ower didn;t replace the clutch springs to heavier duty ones ?

Hey guys, Looking for some info on a 2000 Yamaha Kodiak.  When I leave it sitting I get fuel leaking out of the carb drain.  What causes this?  Float stuck?

    • 2000 Kawa Bayou 220, Carb issues?

So I bought a Bayou 220 as me 'Black Friday' score, and was informed it has carb issues..  A little history from the previous owner: they suspected the carb was bad as it was 'running like crap' so they did a rebuid kit on it. Didn't fix issue so they took it to a shop where the tech installed an aftermarket(?) carb, but had to modify the throttle cable to get it to work. Quad ran great at 1/4 throttle, but anything above that and the throttle would stick and the machine would run like garbage again. What I know and think: I hear carb issues are common and fairly easy to fix. Also, I think they used the 'universal' rebuild kit that claims '88-'11, but the jets and such were different from '00-'03 (gaskets, etc. appear to be the same) so their original attempt was a good idea, just not good enough. They did give me the original carburetor with the 4-wheeler, but it has the wrong internals. I'm thinking if I can get the right jets, springs, etc for the rebuild, I should be able to get this thing running right. Of course, I still need to charge the battery back up, change all the fluids, replace fuel lines, plug and wire.. ya know, the basics for a machine that's been sitting for roughly 9 months. lol

      I own a 2002 Can-Am Quest 650.
It will start if you massage the throttle a bit and it will continue to run. BUT if you let go of the throttle and try to let it idle it will always die warm or cold.
It has Non-Oxy premium gas, a new gapped NGK plug, a new carb (as of today) and fresh fluids. After installing the new carb it runs exactly the same.

I only have a few things that I have observed since the new carb:
The choke still doesn't do anything. It has a good cable and it is hooked up. It on fully off. There is a cable in the top, front of the engine that splits into two connectors. The connected side is in the photo. The other side has the yellow banded section and is not connected. I do not see anything in range of this connector so I don't know if this is normal or not??? The original carb wasn't really dirty or clogged. I'll use it as a spare. I don't see this cable and connectors listed in the Can-Am shop manual. Looking for some help. I want to ride!

Have a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700 that only has 34mi. on a carb & ring job.
Cut the gas off today to drain carb. Now engine will not idle.If I open throttle will run,but let off & will cut off.Can screw idle in with no change.
What happened? Why did this happen when fuel ran out?
Please help me,my ATV is a daily driver.
