1987 suzuki LT230E, manual shows the plug on the underside of engine. Not there. There's an access hole in the skid plate, but no plug. I see a possible plug on the backend of the engine case. Its not underneath but on the low part of the case. Facing the swing arm. Is that it?

OK. That's easy enuff, or so it would appear. Thanks for your response, I appreciate that.

I removed the front skid plate bolts and let it swing down. The only bolts on the bottom of the case, are the 3 small ones that hold a square plate underneath the oil filter area. The only other place I can think, is on the lower rear case next to the reverse gear sending unit. Its a 17mm bolt with a brass compression washer. It's just strange to me that it's not on the underside. It is low on the case though.

Is the repair here as simple as;

1. Removing the skid plate.

2. Taking the oil drain cover off

3. Replacing the cover and bolt

4. Carefully reattaching the oil drain cover to the case (I know there is an O ring in there etc.)?

notice #2 take DRAIN COVER OFF

Does the drain cover have 3 bolts?

      O3 sat a while. Engine is running fine. I got it into neutral, did some general tune-up and cleaning then pulled the shifter pedal up and it locked up and will not release into neutral again.  Does anyone have experience with this problem?  Thanks for looking and any help.

      I'm in the middle of repairing damage from the chain coming off of this from the previous owner. (I learned this is somewhat common on these for various reasons.)
      What are you guys using to either help keep the chain correct and on the sprocket or guarding your engine in the case that it comes off / breaks?
      Is there an upgraded guard that can bolt around the sprocket in replacement of the currently broken OEM alluminum?
