2009 suzuki king quad 400 (LT-F400/F)- Carb Help

Recommended Posts

I seem to be having a fuel issue- I have no throttle response or when I do as soon as I give it power it dies out. I put a carb rebuild kit in it- cleaned it out. Still nothing. I am thinking I have a setting wrong with the carb maybe one of the valves need to be screwed in/out abit more. Cant find any valve settings for the carb. Any ideas or know of a service manual for it that I can download? I didn't see one of the service manual spot on the site.

There's a  service manual  in our  downloads section.  To  find the  Suzuki  manuals  and others, click  on the (and 9more) under   the ATV  service manuals to  open  a  list of  makes.

Here's  the   link  to   2008 model  which should  be the  same for your 2009.

It  may be  just the  idle  air screw  is set a  little  too  lean , try turning it  out   a 1/4  to 1/2  turn  and see  if improves before  digging deeper  into the  carb  again .. Most start  from  1 1/2 to  2  turns  out from seated  and then  adjust   1/4  turn  at  a time in or  out   to find  the sweet spot .

If it is  running too lean  at  idle , it will do that when you  give it throttle..  On carbs that have  an accelerator  pump, if it doesn't work  right  it  will  also  bog when   you  go to open  it  up .. It  can  idle  fine  and still  be too lean   to  catch  when  you  open  it  up.  It will  stumble.  Try  giving it  a 1/4  turn  out  ans see if it  helps.

If it  idles fine  and refuses  to  rev up  at  all,  then  most likely  there  is a plugged  jet  or  passage .   You  might also  double check the  float setting.  If it  is not allowing  the  float bowl  to  fill to the  proper level     it  could  also  not  want to  rev above an  idle ..   Simplest  first .. Try  the   idle  air  screw,  then  if  no  go  look  deeper.

Hi, I am having issues with my TRX350D fuel pump.  It suddenly stopped running so I have replaced all the fuses and cleaned all the terminals.  I have fitted a new pump, fuel cut-off relay and rectifier.  Still nothing!!  The pump runs when attached to a battery.  The engine will start on the choke and the filter fills with fuel but it will  not rev and dies when the choke is closed. I have power to the relay but nothing at the pump black/white wire when cranking the engine.  Any ideas where to go from here would be very much appreciated!!

      Hi Guys!

New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly)

      I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT
The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild.
It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide)

Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks.

What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild?
Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide?
      Or ??

Thanks in advance for any advice you have!!

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

First issue was fuel pump wont start once ignition has been turned on. Replaced the pump as I had one on hand, than noticed no power so replaced the fuel pump relay as that was were i traced the power to. Still nothing so further inspection looks like signal is coming from the PCM (FLR B20) but not switching the the brown wire to the fuel pump. Ive checked the operation of the bank angle sensor and it appears operational. Fuses and wiring all appear OK. The engine stop relay also tests OK. Ive been through the repair manual and diagrams but to no avail. Fully stumped, any tips would be helpful. Thanks
