My son started racing MX this year in the youth class on a Raptor 125cc. He is already in need of a bigger bike. I would like to build a hybrid 250 for my sons next step in ATV racing. I was looking at installing a yz250f motor in a yzf450. Has anyone done this? if so how did you solve the starting problem. It looks like the kick starter will hit the plastic Nerf bar. Are there any recommendations or alternatives I should consider?

Anything can be done with a little basic fab work.  May want to look into what they did in the golden era of hybrids when they stuffed the 426/450 motors in the 250r and 400ex chassis.  This was in the early 2000's pre yfz and trx 450 days.

Fenders typically got cut to clear the kicker, sometimes an extension would be made to push it out, or a smaller kicker from another motor would be used.

      need help on a yamaha raptor 80 stalling

      I recently purchased a raptor 80 for my grandson for  christmas. I am trying to make sure it is running properly. i have rebuilt the carb and adjusted the carb idle then the mixture to middle of where it runs rough and it runs great for about a min or 2. then it stalls out. I can usually choke it and it will start so i feel it is lacking fuel. the fuel shutoff valve has been changed and i checked it for good fuel flow.  any ideas of what to check next. I am planning to vfy fuel float height tomorrow. I visually checked it by turning carb upside down when i had it apart and it looked level. any ideas are appreciated.

      Raptor Pre-ignition?? (Maybe)

      I got a 2005 350 Raptor Special Edition and I'm dealing with a no start issue; the weirdest thing is when I'm cranking it fires and slows down showing signs of pre firing, smoke shoots out the carburetor every time it sparks. every electrical part (CDI, Rectifier, Stator, Coil) has been swapped out from previous owner, the top end of the engines all new and I cleaned the carb out, anyone got any ideas or similar problems, also is it possible to have a bad spark timing

      As the title says I am on the search for a used OEM 1995 King Quad Carb. I believe it says Mikuni on the side. If you could even help me find info on which carb it is exactly that would be helpful too, or motorcycles/other quads that use the same carb. Thanks!

       I often work on both ATVs and larger construction equipment, and I’m always on the hunt for solid OEM manuals—service, repair, and parts. The usual searches give a lot of random PDFs or unofficial scans that aren’t very trustworthy.
      What online sources do you all use when you need a factory manual quickly? Are there sites you’ve found that consistently provide genuine OEM content for ATVs or heavy machinery?
      I recently came across Heavy Equipment Manual, which claims to provide verified OEM service and parts manuals (covering brands like Caterpillar, Komatsu, Kubota, etc.). Has anyone here tried it, or do you have other go-to resources you’d recommend?
