My rear breaks blew out? Honda trx400ex 2001 HELP

I was ripping the trails in Belfair and I was drifting a donut, and I was going to slow down and straighten out, so I used my rear break, (right foot placement pedal) and idk, I pressed it too hard? or something I am not sure. Anyways, it made a weird sound as if some liquid blew out really really fast in high pressure, and it made a pshewwww sound. And after that, I could press the rear break all the way down, and it wouldn't stop the quad at all. Idk the technical terms and all these parts, so idk what to do. HELP!!!

      2008 Brute Force 650, clutch is slow to engage

      I'm trying to help a buddy out with his bike (he's not really on the internet or familiar with these forums) and I'll admit that I am not super familiar with the transmission and clutches in these bikes. I owned a Brute a few years ago, but never had an issue like this that I had to troubleshoot.
      So basically my buddy bought a group lot of 650's to build one good bike out of. He got it all put together and has it running but when he pushes on the throttle the clutch doesn't engage till the RPM's are quite high and even when its moving it doesn't really speed up, almost seems like its in "limp mode". He's tried 2 different transmissions so I don't think that's the problem. 
      Is there any adjustment on the clutch engagement? Anything else I can tell him to look at? Let me know if you need anymore information if you think you can help.

      I have an Axis 500 made by Hisun.  I uses a solid rear gearbox with no differential action. 
      I would like to convert this to a true differential with locking ability.  I've searched all over trying to find a source with no luck.
      Has anyone done this before, or know of a source?

      I was looking to buy a new ATV. 
      I was debating between Polaris sportsman 450 and Honda rancher.
      Polaris it a bit cheaper.
      But can you tell me which one will have more demand on the used market? Which one will keep it's value better?
       
      Let's say 3-5 years from now.
