Looking for some help. Unit won't start. not yet sure if fuel or ignition. while pushing around I broke a wire under grip and now it won't turn over. I'll be fixing that first. what should I test or look for if ignition problem?

Welcome to Quadcrazy, you will have to start with the usual suspects first.

As far as spark goes the kill switch, battery etc and inspection of the wiring.

Pull the spark plug out of the engine and plug it back into the spark plug wire and crank the engine while holding the bottom metal part of the plug against the metal part of the head of the engine.  You should see a spark by the plug, if so great!

Second is the fuel.  Has the bike been sitting? And if so was the bike drained and ran out of gas before it was sitting.  If not then I would think the carburetor is full of old junked up fuel.  That will need to come off and be taken apart, cleaned etc. if your not familiar with this work there is u tibe and this forum to help you along.

Thanks! I know how to check spark at the plug but don't know where it comes from or how to check where it does. where it gets power to a coil or other pieces of ignition and I have carb covered too. Guess i should just spray ether through it again and see

Can’t hurt to try. But def check for spark first so you are not pissing into the wind. Most bikes that have been sitting loose spark due to the cdi having moisture in it that happens over time.

The stator coil sometime  could go bad if you try to jump start it with a car or to big a power pack.

Or it could be all fine with the exception of a dirty carb, old gas and a dirty gas tank!

Check the fuse by the starter relay.

Bottom line is go over it all.  We will help you out so get after it and pick some tools and a starting point.

Thanks. didn't know about that fuse. I mostly work on cars/trucks and riding and push mowers. Have to finish pulling eng/trans in '99 blazer 4x4 aagggghhh. they wont split so might have to remove front differential to get sump clearance to get them out

I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Thanks

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks
